Daimler says it received over 30k orders for 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Daimler launched its flagship 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan less than three months ago but already, over 30,000 orders have been received. In a statement last Friday, Ola Kaellenius, the new head of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars, said that the new S class is now back to the top of the list when it comes to new vehicle registrations in Germany and in other countries in Europe.

In 2012, more than 65,000 S-class cars were sold. Last week, the new model, a cornerstone of the group's growth strategy, arrived at U.S. showrooms after making its debut in late July in Europe and in China at the end of September. The sixth-generation S class has a starting price of almost 72,000 euros ($92,600) with tax.

This model comes with the highest levels of comfort, which include air purifiers for customers in China (the car's largest market).

As Daimler has dropped Maybach, the S class has an even more significant role at the top of the Mercedes range. The S class used to be available in only three body styles but it’s now offered in six styles.

The new S-Class from Mercedes-Benz does not only function as the brand’s technological leader but actually does the same for the entire automobile development. In creating this new model, the brand made use of its three engineering priorities which are “Efficient Technology,” “Essence of Luxury,” and “Intelligent Drive.” Not only that, it increases the limits of technology of different levels.

Under “Essence of Luxury,” Mercedes-Benz made sure that every detail was perfect. The goal of being the best is exemplified well in the interior. Be it the design or the controls, and even the air conditioning or the seats. It is noticeable even on the infotainment or the safety and comfort offered in the rear. Indeed, the new S-Class shows new ideas along with the highest of quality and painstaking realization.

This highlights just how high the engineers set standards not only for the flagship model but also themselves. This is true for safety. It was a decade when the brand began with the PRE-SAFE and it has evolved to what is now known as the DISTRONIC PLUS. This has resulted in combining safety and comfort, a new dimension when it comes to motoring. Those familiar know this as what the brand refers to as “Intelligent Drive.”

By offering a wide array of systems, it allows the new S-Class to be safer and offer more comfort. Like the previous versions, customers can expect that this latest offering from Mercedes-Benz will be able to establish new benchmarks across the board in order to guarantee that it will continue to be called as the world’s “best automobile.”

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, who is the Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars and the Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, said that the brand didn’t simply focus on visuals or safety, dynamism or comfort, or efficiency or power. For the brand, he continued, it was important to be the best in everything or none at all. The new S-Class, he added, is a model that clearly stands for the brand promise, more than any other.
