DS plans to unveil its first SUV – DS 6WR – at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show. Designed in Paris and inspired by the Wild Rubis Concept car, the Citroen DS 6WR premium SUV represents a new approach for the brand -- untamed yet sophisticated. The DS 6WR also represents the next phase of development of the brand not only in China, but also around the world.

The vehicle’s body lines merge SUV design with DS styling cues. Having a 4.55m x 1.86m x 1.61m (length, width and height) and a long wheelbase of 2.73m, the vehicle amply meets the needs of luxury SUV customers in terms of space and versatility. DS 6WR features Grip Control that allows optimized traction on all types of terrain – leading to improvements in both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

DS 6WR is powered by either e-THP 160 or THP 200 engines are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engines feature sequential direct injection with a high-pressure pump and a twin scroll type turbocharger. Bearing a wide and low body with distinct styling, the DS 6WR features a chrome-finished side signature with aluminum bars accentuating the impression of height and sculpted rear wings.

Its front end identity features ‘DS Wings’ -- a new grille design which names is derived the two chrome-finished wings that links it to the headlamps. The SUV’s incisive light signature features Xenon technology and daytime running lights in a tuning-fork layout.

The rear lights seemed integrated into the wraparound tailgate while the glass is in chrome to underscore their 3D design. To complete the SUV’s rear signature, DS initials are embossed on the side of each light cluster. The DS 6WR will be the third DS model to be produced in China and will be launched by end of 2014 in the country. [source: Citroen]
