The patrol fleet of the Dubai Police Force has a new addition – a Brabus-tuned Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. This amazing car joins the already intimidating list of luxury cars that Dubai’s police own, including a Bugattti Veyron, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari FF, a Bentley Continental GT, an Aston Martin One-77, and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
The new G-Class is a Brabus B63S-Widestar that used special paint and that features an LED light bar. Its other elements are simply standard-grade Brabus and AMG hardware, such as a set of massive 23-inch forged wheels, the flared fenders, and gaping front fascia. It also has the following standard features from Brabus: quilted red leather seating, illuminated door sills, and carbon fiber trim.
It’s definitely much better than what’s seen in a typical police car, which mainly uses plastic and vinyl. Brabus tuned the already impressive G63 AMG to be more potent. The stock 2013 G63 AMG is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V-8 that offers 536 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. After Brabus tweaks the engine, this same engine becomes capable of producing 700 hp and 708 lb-ft of torque.
It doesn’t offer much in terms of aerodynamics and it weighs significantly more than 5600 pounds but with this output, the Brabus B63S-Widestar is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and to reach a maximum speed of 149 mph.
It would be exciting to see the Brabus G63 AMG go after criminals on the highway but it’s unlikely to be placed in active service. It’s believed that similar to what has become of Dubai’s other exotic police cars, the B63S-700 Widestar will probably be more of a department ambassador and will be seen mostly during special events.
The AMG’s Sports chassis had its suspension and damper settings adjusted for the more energetic control traits of the new model. To lessen the impact of noise and vibrations, the design and engineering team at Mercedes-AMG also executed a vast range of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) actions. Maximised bearings for the automatic gearbox, transfer casing, and engine lowered the levels of noise and vibration. This all guarantees a more comfortable drive experience and assists in keeping the driver alert and fit, especially when driving extended distances.
The vehicle has absolutely new brakes and wheels. The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG comes with all-new AMG 5x2 spoked light alloy wheels as standard. The 9.5 x 20 titanium-grey wheels have a high-shine finish and are equipped with 275/50 R 20 tires. The automobile has an exclusive available special option: being fitted with matte-black AMG lightweight alloy wheels with high-shine rim overhangs.
New AMG high-performing brakes provide top operations in deceleration, variable feed, and durability. Fully ventilated, perforated brake discs that are 375 x 36 mm in front and 330 x 20 mm in the rear give optimal thermal ability and excellent deceleration rates. The front axle comes with a six-piston fixed-calliper brake system as well as the ML63 AMG, with a sole-piston floating-calliper system on the rear axle. The brake callipers are red through its full circumference and can come in silver.
Fully modified ESP with more comfortable functions
New G-Class generation also presents a selection of outstanding safety features. For instance, the deluxe off-roader has a fully modified ESP, with automated control systems such as start-up assistance and a HOLD setting, both for trouble-free hill starts. And if emergency braking is required when the driver abruptly lets off the accelerator and hits the brakes, the brake system amplifies the brake line pressure and deploys the brake linings. This makes sure there is a maximal effect once the brake is pressed. This "pre-filling" buoys the standard brake assist fitting.
