Electric Vw Golf will be called e-Golf! Expected in the U.S. by 2014!

The electric Volkswagen Golf would start selling in Europe in 2013 as a 2014 model while it may be offered in the U.S. sometime in 2014. At the moment, the car’s rollout in the U.S. has yet to be finalized. The U.S. timetable was delayed since its basis would be on the seventh-generation Golf whose standard versions will debut later this year in Europe before arriving at the U.S. market in 2012.

A plug-in hybrid Golf is also possible, considering that the next Golf will use VW’s newest MQB modular architecture, which is meant to accommodate plug-in hybrid gear aside from a full-electric drivetrain.

Volkswagen representatives won’t say if such a model is on its way. However, it said that the company is reviewing all the options made possible by MQB. It’s likely that the 2013 Jetta hybrid, which starts selling later this year, will get a plug-in hybrid variant soon. However, this car won’t use MQB architecture. This means that the next Golf won’t get a plug-in hybrid option right away.

This electric Golf was initially known as the Golf blue-e-motion but it’s now referred to as the “E-Golf”. But this may still change. With the use of the “E-” prefix, VW’s electric offerings would be aligned better by matching the electric Golf with the E-Up!, which will go on sale in Europe by 2013

Volkswagen has made it clear that the E-Up! and the others in the Up! lineup aren’t intended for the U.S.

Volkswagen is giving Europe’s most successful car ever, with over 30 million units sold, an electrified version. The Golf continues on to become the e-Golf with new drive technology that offers zero tailpipe emissions. After the world premiere of the e-Golf at the 2013 International Motor Show and the public debut at the AA of the battery powered electric Volkswagen, the e-up! gives Volkswagen more reasons to celebrate because they now offer vehicles with every form of drive system relevant in the world to date.

Not only efficient but also agile as a deadly predator, the Volkswagen e-Golf demonstrates only the highest quality features from the get go. It's the first Volkswagen with all-LED headlights and thanks to a particularly innovative technological system, improved aerodynamics (CD =0.281) and perfected rolling resistance, it is on top with a power consumption figure of 12.7 kw/100 km. As such, it leads the way in low power consumption vehicles.

As a result, the e-Golf will be extremely efficiently in cruising around cities when it launches in the spring of 2014. Europe will receive the model in early 2014 while North America and Asia will follow in late 2014 or early 2015. Notably, energy costs around €3.28 for every 100 km.

The one of a kind e-Golf (with a specification which includes the high-end 'Discover Pro' radio/navigation system, a heated windscreen, automatic climate control, parking heater/ventilation and a leather steering wheel) is instantly recognizable not only by its aesthetically pleasing aerodynamically optimized 'Astana' alloy wheels but also by its LED headlights being used by Volkswagen for the first time (both standard

on all models).

THE LED headlights produce more light than xenon systems and use less energy! Also incredibly efficient are the standard issue daytime runners which feature a custom C-shaped design, a signature feature of Volkswagens electric vehicles. It features an attractive bottom strip across the radiator grille.
