Felipe Massa spotted with his blacked out LaFerrari

After Jay Kay’s Kermit Green LaFerrari, another celebrity was photographed with its fresh Italian supercar. The latest LaFerrari driver is Felipe Massa and its supercar is pretty spectacular. As you can see, the blacked out vehicle features red accents on the carbon fiber front lip spoiler, side sills, exterior mirrors and air diffuser.

In addition, the wheels are painted in black and hide the red brake calipers. For those who don’t know, the LaFerrari is the successor to the well-known Enzo supercar and will be built in a limited edition of just 499 units.

According to the former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the LaFerrari is the maximum expression of what defines the Italian company. In addition, this is Ferrari’s first supercar in company’s history to be powered by the HY-KERS System.

The system includes a 6.3-liter V12 engine that produces 800 hp at 9,250 rpm and 700 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. In addition, the vehicle features an electric motor that produces 163 hp (120 KW), which raises the total output of the supercar in 963 hp.

The hybrid system consists of two electric motors developed in collaboration with Magnetti marelli, one powering the driven wheels while the second powers the ancillaries. A battery pack is attached to the floor of the chassis and has a weight of 60 kg.

Using Pirelli P Zero tires, the LaFerrari is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3 secons, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in under 7 seconds and to 300 km/h (186 mph) in 15 seconds.

The Prancing Horse has finally taken the wraps off its LaFerrari that made its official world debut during the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show. This is one of the brand’s eagerly-anticipated limited-series special, with only 499 units projected to be manufactured. Ferrari revealed that in developing this limited-series special, it was a chance for the brand to experiment with all possible technological solutions that are expected to filter later down to the production version.

One of this is by introducing the hybrid system. By fully utilizing the knowledge gathered from the Scuderia Ferrari's F1 KERS, it allowed for a solution that praises the fundamental values of the brand which are driving excitement and performance. Dubbed as HY-KERS, this hybrid technology is the best example of maximum performance mixed in with lower emissions.

Ferrari said that CO2 emissions of the LaFerrari are 33 g/km without the need to use the electric-only drive. However this would go contrary to the model’s mission. Under the HY-KERS system though, it was designed to make sure that when it comes to future application, the model can be driven by only using electric power for a few kilometers. During development testing, the LaFerrari managed to get CO2 emissions with a combined cycle of 220 g/km.

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo said that the brand decided to name this model as the LaFerrari as it is the maximum expression of excellence, the quality that defines the brand. This excellence, he added, is present when it comes to performance, pioneer styling, technological innovation, and the driving thrill.

The model is aimed at the brand’s collectors, he continued, and is a truly extraordinary car that is composed of advanced solutions that in the future will become part of the rest of the portfolio.

President di Montezemolo continued by saying that this new model sets the standard for the whole automotive industry. He said that the LaFerrari is the best expression of the brand’s unmatched and unique engineering as well as design knowledge, all of which have been obtained from Formula 1.
