As you may know already, Ferrari teased the 149M Project last week and the Italian manufacturer revealed the fact that its new car will make its debut tomorrow. Ahead of its official debut, the new Ferrari is teased once again and as you can see from the photos it is clear that the sports car will follow the new design line shown by the F12berlinetta.

We already know that the new model that Ferrari is talking about is the California, as the new car is dubbed ‘149M Project’.

Ferrari California is codenamed F149, which indicates that the 149M is a modified version of the California, where ‘M’ comes from ‘Modificada’ or Italian for ‘modified’. So, expect a new version of the Ferrari California wearing a F12berlinetta-inspired design.

Still, the surprise will be under the hood, where it is expected to use a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivering around 550 hp, a big improvement if we take a look at the naturally aspirated 4.3-liter V8 found on the current model and capable to deliver 490 hp. The new engine is also found on the recently introduced Maserati Quattroporte.

Just like all California models that precede it, the new Ferrari California T can be considered as an embodiment of sportiness and elegance as well as exclusivity and versatility.

It is laden with groundbreaking features that allow it to exceed the expectations of customers looking for fun-to-drive sports car but also seeks a practical and comfortable grand tourer. For instance, the sporty design of the convey its genes as a Ferrari, while its retractable hard top (RHT) and 2+ configuration communicates its versatile capability.

Like all Ferrari vehicles, the new California T offers innovative technologies, such as its new turbocharged V8 engine. Turbocharging has been a part of Ferrari’s technological process. It was employed on the 1984 Ferrari GTO and the 1987 Ferarri F40 of 1987. Moreover, turbocharging plays a big role in powering up Ferrari’s latest F1 single-seater.

In designing the engine of the new California T, Ferrari engineers aimed to bestow the unit with classic Ferrari mill attributes – high levels of performance and responsiveness, dynamic acceleration at all speeds and a thrilling audio track. The installation of a turbocharger allows the V8 engine of the California T to consume less fuel and emit less carbon dioxide while increasing its specific power output.
