Ferrari FXX K Evoluzione will be built, but don’t expect it soon

Article by Christian A., on January 5, 2015

Ferrari introduced back in December at Abu Dhabi, the FXX K a.k.a. the LaFerrari XX or the track-focused version of the LaFerrari. The K in the moniker is a reference to the “KERS” kinetic energy recovery system and the vehicle offers a total output of 1050 hp. 860 hp are produced by the 6.2-liter V12 petrol engine, while the rest of the power comes from the electric motor.

In addition, the hybrid system delivers a maximum torque of 900 Nm. Ferrari says that the HY-KERS system can be used in 4 driving modes: Qualify, Long Run, Manual Boost and Fast Charge.

Compared with the standard version, the FXX K arrives with a twin-profile spoiler but also a large splitter, which is 30 mm lower. In addition, the vehicle features two pairs of vertical elements, an endplate and a dive plane, which together with vertical fins channel the air towards the car’s flank.

At the rear, the mobile spoiler is able to extend 60 mm when fully developed, while each small wing on each side boost the spoiler’s efficiency. Now, the interesting news come from Autocar, who says that an even extreme version of the FXX K will arrive.

If you don’t know, the previous FXX and 599XX models received the ‘Evoluzione’ packages that raised the power output and performance. Still, the bad news is that the FXX K Evoluzione will not be seen for a number of years.

Ferrari test driver Marc Gene said that something will come up and he will not be surprised if it happens. [source: autocar.co.uk]
