Ferrari will build a limited edition supercar to celebrate 60 years in the USA

Article by Christian A., on September 13, 2014

Limited edition supercars have always been a bestseller and you may already know what Lamborghini did with its Veneno Coupe and Roadster, which celebrated company’s 50th anniversary. Ferrari wants to follow the same strategy in the United States where it celebrates its 60th year and announced that it developed a special car and only 10 units will be built, each priced at 2.5 million euros.

There are no details regarding the new vehicle but taking in consideration its price, we expect it to use the same drivetrain found on the LaFerrari, Ferrari’s first car in its history to be powered by the HY-KERS System.

This means it could use a 6.3-liter V12 engine that pumps out 800 hp at 9.250 rpm and 700 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The supercar also carries an electric motor delivering 163 hp or 120 kW. With a total output of 963 hp, the LaFerrari is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in under 7 seconds and 300 km/h (186 mph) in 15 seconds.

On the Fiorano racetrack the vehicle is 5 seconds quicker than the Enzo and 3 seconds faster than the F12berlinetta. More details to be revealed next month when Ferrari will officially unveil its new supercar!

“To celebrate Ferrari’s 60th year in the USA, we have developed a special car of which just 10 examples will be built, in addition to planning a major event in Los Angeles to bring together all our American clients and collectors, and a charity initiative.” said Luca di Montezemolo.
