Fiat Group Automobiles UK has recently announced the pricing information for the rugged new Panda 4x4 and Panda Trekking. The Panda has been very successful, with 6.5 million cars produced in more than three decades. Notably, the 4x4 version was first presented in 1983. The newest range, the third generation, is priced from £13,950 OTR for the 0.9 TwinAir 85hp 4x4.
The price goes up to £14,950 OTR for the 1.3 16v MultiJet 4x4 diesel version. The two-wheel drive Trekking has a starting price of £12,450 OTR for the TwinAir version and £13,450 for the MultiJet. The new Panda 4x4 -- the off-road version of the new Panda – has a permanent four-wheel drive system.
The stunning car comes with body-coloured ‘4x4 style’ bumpers with satin aluminium finished skid-plate, roof rails, side mouldings with ‘4x4’ logo, black wheel arches and side skirts, 15-inch dark alloy wheels and raised ground clearance suspension. The interior of the Panda 4x4 features twin-coloured seats, coloured dashboard, door panels in coloured ‘eco-leather’, and a gloss black instrument surround.
Same treatment is given to the Trekking models but what’s different is it gets a black skid-plate rather than satin aluminium and lighter finish alloy wheels.
Full engine line-up includes the award-winning TwinAir 0.9-litre petrol (85hp), enabling the Panda 4x4 to achieve a top speed of 103mph (Trekking 106mph), official Combined Cycle fuel consumption of 57.6mpg (61.4mpg) and a CO2 emissions level of 114g/km (105g/km). On the other hand, the MultiJet (75hp) offers incredible figures of a top speed of 99mph (100mph), fuel economy of 60.1mpg (67.3mpg) and CO2 emissions of 125g/km (109g/km).
The new five-door Fiat Panda Trekking is an authentic city SUV as it brags an astounding internal volume for a small exterior size. Its passenger compartment features great flexibility as it comes with a wide range of seating adjustments. It is also equipped with wide glazed areas to ensure excellent visibility and road command. The car’s driving position is also made higher and its gear lever is placed in the dashboard center to provide easy handling.
Being the roomiest among all the other models in its segment, the Panda Trekking can house five people despite its height of 160 cm, width of 368 cm, and a 230-cm wheelbase. It is also capable of lodging about 225 to 260 liters if the rear seat is fully pushed forward. If the rear seat backrest is folded, it may extend up to 870 liters.
Aside from being spacious, this new model’s passenger compartment is also very comfortable and functional as it comes with different seating configurations. The driver’s seat for instance comes with an adjustable height and a fold-down backrest table that can also be fitted with the front passenger seat.
The backrest table can hold up objects like laptops, handbags or any other item. When rear seats are folded down, it provides a plain loading surface of more than two meters which allows maximum use of the car’s interior space.
