Amid strong demand in the Indian vehicle market, Fiat will be supplying a maximum of 100,000 more diesel engines annually to Suzuki Motor's Indian unit, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., for three years, on top of those already licensed. Suzuki owns 54.2 percent of Maruti Suzuki. The 1.3-liter MultiJet 75-hp engine will be utilized in Suzuki vehicles in India produced by Maruti Suzuki.
This is the same engine that Fiat supplies to General Motors in Europe. It is also the engine that Fiat equips its Fiat 500, Panda and Punto.
In September, Volkswagen Group accused the Japanese vehicle manufacturer of breaching their partnership deal by purchasing engines from Fiat. The group has a 19.9% share of Suzuki. Suzuki contested the accusation.
In November, it opened an arbitration proceeding against VW to force the German company to relinquish its shares. VW stated it has no plans to let go of its shareholding.

Once a customer chooses to avail any of these loans, he/she may be given a 5 year per 500,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and other services (first time in Fiat history, by the way) and complete a 24-hour roadside service. Home service is also available especially during periodic maintenance or if the customer opts to bring it down to the service center, then all taxi fares shall be reimbursed.
