Mercedes-Benz has delivered the very first Mercedes-Benz GLK 320 CDI sports utility vehicle to its new owner. Handing over the keys to PR consultant Magdalena Dietz is Peter Schabert, manager of Mercedes' Bremen plant.
The handover and the delivery took place at the plant's Customer Center. During the handover ceremony, Schabert described the new GLK as Mercedes' most important new model this year. He noted that the GLK is the premium brand's first compact SUV and the first Mercedes SUV made in Bremen.
He added that as the Bremen plant's manager, he is delighted to personally hand over the first GLK to its owner. He remarked that Dietz will be impressed by the GLK's looks, safety and comfort, as well as its on- and off-the-road performance.
On the other hand, Dietz – also an owner of the public relations agency "wortsuchttext" along with her husband -- is also as excited to take delivery of the new Mercedes GLK 320 CDI in metallic tenorite gray.
She remarked that the new GLK is a perfect match for their agency because of its modern character and the way it stands out from its rival SUVs.
Dietz noted that as the first GLK customer, she was very pleased to receive their new SUV from the Bremen plant's manager. She added that after weeks of anticipation, she can't wait to drive her new Mercedes GLK SUV.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class is now here to conquer the compact SUV segment with its all-rounder practicality and charming compact body form. Moreover, the new GLK offers a fusion of elements that were previously regarded as opposites.
For instance, its Agility Control suspension combines excellent handling dynamics, superb ride comfort as well as exceptional driving safety. Along with the latest electronic control systems, the variable 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system helps the GLK deliver accomplished on-road performance as well as superior off-road suitability – a combination that gives the compact SUV its massive appeal. Although the new GLK-Class may be one of the carmaker’s more road-oriented SUVs, the letter "G" in its model name has a due place.
While the four- and six-cylinder engines available for the new GLK-Class offer new levels of performance, they also deliver greater higher degree of efficiency. For instance, the new entry-level four-cylinder diesel engine in the BlueEFFICIENCY model of the GLK 220 CDI could deliver 125 kW (170 hp) while consuming only 6.9 liters of diesel per 100 km.
On the other hand, the new Mercedes GLK-Class features highly robust body that allows for an innovative passive-safety setup, high degree of interior comfort, low noise levels as well as high value retention. In addition, the new GLK features commendable appointments and appealing equipment packages – making the compact SUV stand out from its mass-produced rivals. It also debuts on the compact SUV segment a number of state-of-the-art features like the PRE-SAFE safety concept and the Intelligent Light System (ILS).
Even at a glance, the new Mercedes GLK-Class exudes a poise and confidence that announces its target to dominate the compact premium SUV segment. Considered as the most sophisticated in its segment, the displays of the GLK-Class are similar to that of the G-Class.
Design chief Peter Pfeiffer noted the G-Class is a style icon that has been a benchmark in SUV design in the past three decades. He remarked that by combining this concept of the G-Class and the latest Mercedes design idiom lends the GLK a genuine character.
