Ford F-150 SVT Raptor becomes top selling licensed toy truck among kids

Article by Christian A., on December 28, 2012

A replica of the latest Ford F-150 SVT Raptor high-performance truck is already available and quickly selling out at the toy shops near you. In fact, sales of the Ford high-performance toy truck seem to be a reflection of the top-selling stature of the actual car, which posted a 40% increase in 2012. Already, sales of Raptor licensed products are leading their categories in the toy and gaming segments.

Kids of all ages like playing with the pickup truck and manufacturers know it. The licensing demands on Ford Motor Co. have become so high that the truck has replaced GM’s Hummer brand as the most desired licensed truck. How popular the Raptor’s licensed merchandise is reflects its top position in the performance truck market.

Because of its image as the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup, its sales have gone up this year by 20%, surpassing the record last year. Raptor sales reached the peak in October and November, its first and second best sales months ever. Mark Bentley, licensing manager, Ford Global Brand Licensing, said that when the Raptor was launched in the toy and video game companies three years ago, the company was confident that it had a “winner” in the model.

Numerous toy and video game brands around the world have reaped success because of these Raptor-inspired creations. He added that Raptor’s potential was obvious to licensing executives from all the top brands and they immediately asked to ink deals with Ford Global Brand Licensing.

The new 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is set to uphold premium off-road performance with its new V8 engine with a capacity of 6.2 liters and 411 horsepower. It also features new technologies and the latest SuperCrew option which provides more choices in terms of cab size.

According to Jost Capito, the Director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsports Business Development, the people were blown away by this model’s capabilities during its launching. With the new SuperCrew, the Raptor’s versatility has expanded and now, more enthusiasts can experience the uncompromised off-road performance only Raptor delivers.

This model is the very first off-road performance truck of high-speed offered by Ford. It highlights the company’s 33 years of truck sales leadership with its durability, engineering and innovation. It sustains the off-road pre-runner DNA and this new model’s comprehensive modification are focused on its suspension enhancements and chassis.

This new version is also made wider by seven inches compared to the base F-150 in order to offer space for additional suspension components and provide off-road abilities beyond compare. Its wider stance also adds to a more aggressive look and its FOX Racing internal triple-bypass shocks provide a position-sensitive damping as well as additional suspension travel for a smooth ride in the road and extreme off-road driving.
