CES 2016 will witness the returning face of Ford Motor Company. There will be on-stage evidence of the company’s ongoing holistic measures that promise innovative products and services for the convenience of its customers.

Ford Motor Company, which is headed by President and CEO Mark Fields, had first presented itself in CES nine years ago. In fact, it was the first automobile manufacturer to have a marked presence in the show in that era. Mark revealed that the company was all set to put a step forward again in the same direction in 2016 by showcasing its Ford Smart Mobility Plan at the CES.

Ford Motors works consistently to find innovative methods and smart solutions in the world of automobiles so that customers get a richer experience, the world gets more connected and mobile, better autonomous vehicles are produced, and research data and analytics become enhanced.

The first automotive news conference in CES 2016 that is being hosted by Ford is scheduled on the CES Press Day from 7:30 to 8.00 am PST on January 5th, Tuesday, at Mandalay Bay. CES 2016 is owned and produced by the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) which was formerly known as the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association).

It is the world’s largest hands-on exhibit of the latest innovations and is set to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from Jan 6 to 9, 2016. CTA has proudly chosen the 2017 Ford GT as the CES 2016 Official Vehicle on the basis of its ultra high performance as a supercar that depicts exemplary use of technology in aerodynamics with its EcoBoost performance and carbon fibre light weight body.

Ford Motor Company’s commitment to innovative performance is completely embodied in the all-new supercar. The company’s new product launches have been all inculcated in the Ford GT which has advanced lightweight carbon fibre composites and other technologies being displayed at the CES show.

As expressed by Raj Nair, VP, Global Product Development, Ford Group, the company proudly brings in the Ford GT as the ultimate enthusiast supercar and it being chosen as the Official Vehicle of CES is an honour for Ford.

The innovative technological advances that the Ford GT includes will be widely used in the future products too; an operational truth which reflects Ford’s commitment towards continuing improvement for its customers.

Ford GT is inhabited by a 600-plus-horsepower EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 engine which exhibits marvellous next-generation features and is highly efficient in creating an endurance racing derived power-train. It is accompanied by a seven-speed transaxle with a dual clutch which makes gear changing almost instantaneous as well as gives exceptional driver control.

The supercar has a predominant aerodynamic design that is very well depicted in its slopes and shape working to minimize drag. An adjustable active rear spoiler is connected to driver input and speed and it can change its height and pitch angle as required by the vehicle.

An all-new F1 inspired steering wheel is complete with all the important driver controls, thus allowing undisturbed driving access to the transmission paddle-shift controls with a uniform steering column. The instrument cluster has an interesting fully digital display that focuses on a plethora of driver friendly features.

It can be configured according to various driving situations and multiple driving modes. The Ford GT is hitting markets 2016 onwards, and will be available in selected parts of the world in celebration with the 50th Ford GT race cars’ anniversary of having placed 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Press Release

Ford is returning to CES in January with even more news on the company’s holistic approach to create products and services that make people’s lives better.

“Ford was the first automaker to have a significant presence at CES nine years ago, and we are proud to continue that legacy of innovation in 2016,” said Mark Fields, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company. “As we move forward with our Ford Smart Mobility plan, CES is the perfect venue for sharing news on our efforts to change the way the world moves and provide new solutions in the areas of connectivity, mobility, autonomous vehicles, the customer experience and data and analytics.”

Ford is hosting the first automotive news conference of CES 2016 during CES Press Day from 7:30-8 a.m. PST on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Mandalay Bay. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, formerly the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, CES 2016 is the world’s largest hands-on showcase of emerging innovation and is scheduled for Jan. 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Additionally, CTA has named the Ford GT -- an ultra-high-performance supercar that serves as a technology showcase for top EcoBoost® performance, aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fiber construction -- the Official Vehicle of CES 2016.

The all-new supercar represents Ford’s commitment to innovation through performance. Its advanced, lightweight carbon fiber composites as well as other technologies will help serve the company’s entire product lineup, and will be on display at the show.

“Ford GT is the ultimate execution of an enthusiast supercar – we are honored Ford GT has been named the Official Vehicle of CES,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “Ford GT includes innovations and technologies that can be applied broadly across Ford’s future product portfolio – another proof point that Ford continues raising the performance bar while ultimately improving vehicles for all of our customers.”

A next-generation, 600-plus-horsepower twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine demonstrates remarkable efficiency – a key attribute of its endurance racing-derived powertrain. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle that provides for near-instantaneous gear changes and exceptional driver control.

Aerodynamic efficiency is at the heart of the design of the Ford GT, with every slope and shape designed to minimize drag. An active rear spoiler is keyed to both speed and driver input, deploying and adjusting its height and/or pitch angle depending on conditions.

An F1-style steering wheel integrates all necessary driver controls, creating a stalkless steering column that allows uncluttered access to the transmission paddle-shift controls. A fully digital and configurable instrument cluster provides a wealth of driver-focused data. The display is configurable for multiple driving environments and different driving modes.

Beginning production in 2016, Ford GT arrives in select global markets to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars placing 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
