Just in time for the start of The University of Texas Longhorns football season, Chevrolet unveiled the a special edition of the Silverado called University of Texas Longhorns. The vehicle can be easily distinguished in a parking lot due to its awesome Sunset Orange Metallic exterior paint but also thanks to the new UT graphics on the pickup bed and tailgate, as well as due to its chrome side steps.
Available on the Silverado Double Cab in LT or LTZ trim, or a Crew Cab in LTZ Trim, the UT edition package costs $795. Other features of the Silverado University of Texas Longhorns Edition LT include 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, body color mirrors and door handles as well Texas Edition badge.
The LTZ model gets 20-inch chrome wheels, chrome mirrors and door handles and the Texas Edition badge.
In addition, the vehicle arrives with sprain-in bed liner. Chevrolet offers the Silverado wit a choice of three EcoTec3 engines: a 4.3-liter V6 rated at 285 hp (212 kW) and 305 lb-ft (413 Nm) of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 that develops 355 hp (250 kW) and 383 lb-ft (519 Nm) of torque and the 6.2-liter V8 pumping out 420 hp (313 kW) and 460 lb-ft (623 Nm) of torque.
For the 2015MY, the Chevrolet Silverado gets a new eight-speed automatic transmission, which is included on models powered by the EcoTec3 6.2-liter V8 engine. Other highlights of the 2015MY are the MyLink with enhanced Text Messaging Alerts, Siri Eyes Free and OnStar with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspots.
Building on the brand’s 95 years of truck heritage, the new Chevrolet Silverado sets the standard higher for full-size pickups. The 2014 Silverado is being offered with three new EcoTec3 engines as well as revised steering, suspension and brakes. It also boasts of a more comfortable, stronger, quieter, cab as well as clever solutions for managing cargo in the bed and true truck capability for towing and hauling.
