Hybrid Kinetic’s Pininfarina H600 Concept is about to enter production stage

Article by Christian A., on March 21, 2017

Chinese electronic vehicle startup Hybrid Kinetic (formerly known as HK Motors), introduced the H600 Concept, designed by Pininfarina, earlier this month at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Carter Yeung, board member of the company announced that 85 to 90 percent of the concept model’s final design will be retained as it enters production soon. The firm declares that they are different compared to most Chinese companies who promise too much to the market, but don’t deliver. Instead, they will do the opposite and will provide as much as they could, or even more than what they have already promised.

And we are not just talking design when it comes to sticking to the concept, but also technical specifications. The H600 has a staggering 804 horsepower (600 kW), giving it enough power to run up to 62 miles per hour from standstill (0-100kph) in as short as 2.9 seconds, and eventually reaching its limit of 155 miles per hour (250 kph).

The four-door sedan weighs a total of 4,122 pounds (1,870 kilograms), distributed 52:48 front/rear. It features an all aluminum chassis, a four-seater cabin, and a 500 liter trunk size.

But the main feature Hybrid Kinetic is focused on would be the micro turbine generator range extender. Basically, there is no need for users to worry about the battery of their car getting drained or running out of gas, as the generator provides efficient power for both - anytime, and anywhere they are. With torque vectoring, the H600 has an “energy recycling system” which enables a total distance of over 1,000 kilometers (or over 620 miles) in the New European Driving Cycle.

Production will be carried out in a Chinese plant, which will then be followed by a test run at Pininfarina’s factory in Italy. Over 200,000 cars are set to be produced within the next few years if everything goes smoothly for the company. And the sedan will be out in showrooms across the United States and China by 2019 or 2020. Hybrid Kinetic expects the H600 concept to be a strong contender of the Tesla Model S.

Moreover, HK will also be revealing two new concepts at the Auto Shanghai Show beginning on the 19th of April.

Sounds like a promising car to me. But I don’t know how the crowd would take this. The fact that Hybrid Kinetic is a startup company may create doubts on the level of quality and service it could offer. Plus there are so many new cars out in the market with really nice features. To compete, it will have to deliver a unique product with innovative features.
