Prices and details of the all-new Isuzu D-Max pick-up were announced before its UK launch on April 24-26 at the Commercial Vehicle Show in NEC, Birmingham. Isuzu UK said that the new Isuzu D-Max will start selling in June 2012 and will be offered with four specification levels. It’s also the first time that Isuzu UK will offer an extended cab body configuration that gets rear-opening side-access panels.

Isuzu UK also offers single and double cab versions. The range is offered with a starting price of £14,499 (CVOTR) for the entry-level Isuzu D-Max – the single cab 4x2 derivative. Furthermore, it offers a broad range of standard equipment such as air conditioning, daytime running lights, electric windows and front, side and curtain airbags.

Opting for the ‘Eiger’ double cab (from £18,499 CVOTR) means the addition of projector headlamps, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, 16” alloy wheels and body-colored bumpers. With a starting price of £18,999 CVOTR, the ‘Yukon’ double cab also comes with a leather steering wheel with cruise and audio controls, and a six-speaker sound system, chrome exterior detailing and 17” alloys. What’s offered on the flagship ‘Utah’ model are luxurious interior comforts such as leather upholstery, heated front seats and automatic climate control. Its exterior is enhanced with roof bars and rear parking sensors.

Meanwhile, the ‘Utah’ double cab automatic has a starting price of £21,499 (CVOTR). Powering the all-new Isuzu D-Max is a very fuel efficient 2.5-litre twin-turbo common rail diesel engine, offered with a recently-developed six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. The sophisticated Euro5-compliant unit produces 163 PS and has a peak torque output of 400 Nm at 1400 rpm.

In addition, the Isuzu D-Max presents a new ‘shift-on-the-fly’ system, permitting the driver to make adjustments between two- and four-wheel drive modes while driving at speeds a fast as 60 mph. The all-new Isuzu D-Max is the most comprehensively developed, most efficient and most refined Isuzu pick-up ever built. It is also a very capable load-lugger with a three-ton (braked) towing capacity and a 1,000-kg payload capacity.
