Three examples of Iveco Stralis Hi-Way tractor – which won as the International Truck of the Year for 2013 – will be the center of attraction on the truck maker’s stand at the 2013 Commercial Vehicle Show. The Iveco Stralis Hi-Ways will be joined by an example of FPT Industrial’s innovative Euro VI engine. The vehicle on feature will be a Euro VI example of the Stralis Hi-Way 4x2 tractor unit, which will make its public debut at the NEC.
The Iveco 4x2 Stralis Hi-Way will be joined by a Iveco 6x2 Stralis Hi-Way powered by an engine delivering up to 500 hp of output, and by a 6x2 Stralis Hi-Road ran by a powerplant providing up to 460 hp of max motive power– both of which are EEV-rated Stralis.
The Iveco 6x2 Stralis Hi-Road is considered as the preferred model for distribution, fleet operations, and medium to long-haul domestic cruises. These three Stralis examples and another two Stralis Hi-Way external displays models underscore increased focus that Iveco is placing on the tractor unit market in the United Kingdom. The show will also display an example of the FPT Industrial Euro VI engine.
Iveco and FPT Industrial managed to meet the stringent Euro VI limits without the use of exhaust gas recirculation – the first in the commercial truck and engine industry. By installing an engine with high efficiency selective catalytic reduction into its units, customers will benefit from weight reduction, lower fuel use and higher durability.
Another Iveco unit that will make its official debut in the United Kingdom is the 410-hp on/off-road Trakker Hi-Land, finished in Dakar green factory colors and made popular by Petronas Team De Rooy in the last two Dakar Rallies.
Nigel Emms, Director of Press & PR at Iveco UK, says: “This is a hugely important year for the truck market and we’re expecting a lot of interest in our new Stralis range. Only one manufacturer has the prestige of showcasing the International Truck of the Year 2013 on its stand, and we’ll have three examples on display, plus a further two outside. We’re preparing for a very busy exhibition.”
