The 2013 JD Power customer satisfaction survey has named Jaguar the best manufacturer in the United Kingdom. The 2013 JD Power customer satisfaction survey entailed the opinion of 16,000 car owners in the UK and covers 116 models between a year and three years old. Owners are asked to rank their vehicles on 66 criteria, which together will result to an overall score.
Points are given for areas that include reliability, performance, service and running costs. Jaguar’s ascent to the peak of the survey was mainly attributed to the scores received by its Jaguar XF model, which was third overall in the entire survey, earning "excellent" rating in every category. Jaguar FX owners praised its reliability, dealership service and servicing and repair work.
Jaguar is closely followed by Japanese carmakers Lexus and Honda. Lexus was rated highly for dealer service and reliability across its range, as the fourth placed overall Lexus RX grabbing the best large sports utility vehicle accolade. The Honda Jazz came in sixth overall, the highest among Honda models. Topping the vehicle standing are the Skoda Superband and Yeti.
Skoda, meanwhile, placed fourth overall in the manufacturer rankings. Languishing at the bottom of the survey is Chevrolet for the manufacturer rankings and the Chevrolet Spark for the vehicle category. The JD Power survey is compiled in conjunction with What Car? and measures vehicle ownership and customer satisfaction using on 66 parameters. The survey covers four main areas: vehicle appeal, quality & reliability, ownership costs and dealer service satisfaction.
If anything, Jaguar is known for its two-seater convertible sports car which focuses on agility, driver involvement, and ultimately, performance. The release of the F-Type marks a return to the heart of the brand. In fact, this latest offering from Jaguar continues the bloodline that goes back at least 75 years. It also covers what can be said as the most beautiful, desirable, and thrilling sports car ever made.
Along with the XK convertible and coupe variants, the F-Type is expected to give the brand a wider range with respect to GT and sports models. The 2014 Jaguar F-Type will come in different variants having outputs of 340 hp, 380 hp, and 495 hp. Combined with low weight, the lowest of which is at 3,521 lbs., plus the excellent aerodynamics, it means that under the F-Type, customers will get to experience a pure sports car. Even with this, the model exudes the luxury and elegance one would expect from Jaguar.
When it comes to the exterior design, the brand has been known for its muscular and supple elegance. The F-Type model not only continues this particular tradition but even advances it by having a design language that is not only new but also assertive. There are two “heartlines”, which are composed of two bold strokes that define both the top-down view and the profile.
This particular “heartline” theme starts in the blade then divides the shark-like gills positioned on each side of the model’s grille. The first of this heartline runs up and shapes the fender line’s top crease. This gives the driver the needed sight lines. This is important especially when doing cornering maneuvers. Looking at it, the eye is directed from the top of the fender in the front, highlighted by the headlamp design, and then proceeds to the door and ultimately the rear section where it disappears with grace.
Given that the F-Type is a genuine two-seater sports car, it has a lightweight and modern soft top. This top, when lowered, acts as its very own tonneau cover. The use of the soft top not only helps save weight but even improves the model’s packaging.
This helps with the low center of gravity, allowing for greater agility. Even when going at speeds of a maximum of 30 mph, the top can be lowered and raised within 12 seconds.
