There is no denying that the performance versions of the Jaguar F-Type and the Land Rover Range Rover are definitely hot – both in terms of looks and road dynamics. These are all thanks to the hard work put up by the skilled people of Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. Because of their unique set of skills, these people from SVO could make hot vehicles like the F-Type and the Ranger Rover even much hotter.
SVO, however, might have another surprise for us on the pipeline. That is, if the report from AutoExpress is credible enough to be true.
It hasn’t been very long since Jaguar launched its newest revolutionary model – the XE sedan. When it was launched in 2015, the Jaguar XE did thrill and excite quite a number customers not only in the United Kingdom but also around the world. With nearly two years since its sales commenced in 2015, perhaps it is now high time to release an update this model – into something that would be much better and hotter than the Jaguar XE we know. That is where SVO comes in.
When the folks at SVO put their mind into recreating the Jaguar F-Type and the Land Rover Range Rover, they managed to create variations that far outmatched the typical counterparts -- the F-Type SVR and the Range Rover SVR. Thus, to recreate the Jaguar XE, SVO could transform this sedan into the new Jaguar XE SVO.
Currently, the most ultimate version of the new 2018 Jaguar XE is powered by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with direct injection and fully variable valve timing. This engine – shared with F-Type -- could deliver 380 hp of max output and 332 lb.-ft. of peak torque. This is, by no means, inferior and could already be enough for many fans but there are those who want more from their Jaguar XE. The people from SVO recognize that need.
As reported by AutoExpress, the new Jaguar XE SVR might employ the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that is also found in the F-Type. This V8 engine is able to dish out 500 hp (372 kW) of output, which is already much greater that the power derived from the most powerful Jaguar XE to date. With this amount of power, the Jaguar XE SVR would be pitted against BMW M3 (425 hp) and Mercedes-AMG C63 (469 hp). Interestingly, AutoExpress reports that SVO’s engineering team is now in Northern Spain to benchmark the new Jaguar XE SVR against the M3 and the AMG C63.
Of course, the tweaks wouldn’t be on the engine alone. SVO would definitely tweak the specs, drive system, suspension, chassis and a number of particulars on the new Jaguar XE SVR. Aerodynamic aids would also be added like flared fenders, bumpers, and a rear spoiler – making the new Jaguar XE SVR more streamlined as well as look fiercer.
