Kia aims to sell over 270,000 of the new Sorento globally next year

Kia launched today its all-new 2015 Sorento in South Korea and the company officials revealed the fact that the aim to sell 270,000 units of the new SUV next year. The manufacturer expects to sell around 50,000 units in South Korea and 220,000 overseas.

Last year, Kia managed to sell 105,649, while this year through July, 60,670 unites left the dealerships in the United States. As you may know already, the 2015 Sorento has some important rivals such as the Nissan X-Trail and the Mitsubishi Outlander.

Regarding the design, the 2015 Sorento arrives with a larger ‘tiger-nose grille’ featuring a 3D diamond pattern, swept-back headlamps, a lower roofline, higher beltline as well as muscular shoulders at the rear.

The design is inspired by the Kia Cross GT Concept, unveiled last year at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Kia will officially introduce the new Sorento in Europe at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and we expect more details closer to the launch date.

Building on the success of the current model, the all-new Kia Sorento delivers a premium look and feel by combining style, technology and practicality. It now features a smoother, swept-back profile as well as deeply sculpted surfaces – both conveying the high level of sophistication of the next generation of the new Sorento.

Although the new Kia Sorento is laden with an array of styling tweaks, it retains its fiery character as defined by its sleek profile. This gives the new Sorento a more sophisticated look and a bolder on-the-road presence.

Its front end is defined by a larger, more upright 'tiger-nose' grille featuring a three-dimensional diamond pattern that was first seen on the 2013 Kia Cross GT concept. This grille is flanked by long, wrap-around headlamps and more prominent fog-lamps.

When viewed from the sides, the new Kia Sorento reveals a long bonnet, distinctive wide D-pillar and swept-back shape as well as a lower roofline and a higher beltline. The new clean appearance of the new Sorento is made possible by new laser welding manufacturing techniques, which make weld lines seemingly invisible.
