Kia brings back its dancing hamsters for the 2012 Soul

Kia Motors America has recently posted a 60-second ad on YouTube for the freshened 2012 Kia Soul. This new ad campaign brings back Kia’s hamsters that are now dancing to a tune from electro-pop dance music group LMFAO. It’s quite a surprise, considering that the ad starts with a post-apocalyptic battle scene between robotic aliens and space-age soldiers.

In recent years, Kia’s hip-hop hamsters have been very effective and were applauded by both consumers and the industry.

This new campaign seeks to benefit from the good will generated by 2012 Soul's campaign, named "Share Some Soul", says Autonews. The new commercial is expected to debut at the MTV Video Music Awards. In a statement, Kia said that this campaign arrives at movie theaters on Sept. 2 while the 30-second versions will start to be seen on cable and network TV on Sept. 5.

Kia’s 2012 Soul compact crossover has received several updates, including a new fascia, freshened headlights and hood and a new vertical taillight configuration. It is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection four-cylinder engine that's a recent addition for the model year and is better than the 1.6-liter engine it replaced in terms of power and efficiency. From January to July, Kia has sold 78% more Soul units to 65,118 compared to the same period last year.

The exclusive audio system fitted to the Kia Soul had guided how the interior would be designed. This system has a dashboard that is more organized and comes with LCD illumination and a three-dial instrument cluster. Providing a visual highlight to the system is the center stack designed to look as if it is floating. With this, customers can listen to their favorite music through the AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system fitted to it.

It is even SIRIUS Satellite Radio-capable with complimentary service amounting to three months. Included in the center console are the USB and auxiliary input jacks that allow iPod control either through the controls on the steering wheel or the audio head unit. Aside from the amazing audio system, customers are in for a surprise once they get a chance to go inside. Though it may have a small footprint, Kia Soul delivers an interior with enough space for up to five passengers to feel comfortable inside the roomy cabin. Helping raise the comfort level are the appointed cloth seats. Going inside, or outside, is a cinch owing to the high seating position and its tall doors.

Space is not the only highlight as it offers 14 storage areas and it can even be a personal lounge. Since the rear seat allows for a 60/40 split-fold, it is possible to have different seating or arrangements for the cargo. In fact, each Kia Soul that comes out can be personalized due to the number of choices for the interior like the various fabrics or colors. It even offers a selection of audio system packages. Take for example the Kia Soul sport and the Kia Soul!.

Offered for these two is an Audio Upgrade Package which enhances sound quality with the use of a speaker in the center, a subwoofer, and even an external 315-watt amplifier. Other features that are fitted as standard in the Soul are the map lamps, the rear wiper with washer, and the tilt steering column. It also has power door locks with the power windows on the side of the driver having an auto-down feature.

Customers who have active and sporty lifestyles and want a car that delivers more excitement should know that the Kia Soul sport is able to meet those demands with the metal pedals and suspension modified to be more athletic. Its interior will have the red-black trim and the sport cloth seats have a metal-finish.

The Kia Soul+ meanwhile has extra features that are fitted as standard like the cruise controls managed through switches mounted on its steering wheel, which is covered in leather like the shift knob. It also has air conditioning, tweeter speakers, and privacy glass. Hands-free connectivity is possible through Bluetooth. The Soul+ trim meanwhile will be offered with an audio upgrade package, floor mats, and power moonroof. In particular, the Soul! will have a black-biege trim for the interior with the cloth seats finished in a metal trim.
