Lamborghini confirms the Urus SUV for 2017

As you may know already, Lamborghini recently unveiled the Egoista Concept during company’s 50th anniversary celebrations but it appears that these was not the only interesting car announced. The Italian manufacturer also announced that it will produce the Urus SUV Concept and that the production will begin in 2017.

According to Autocar, the Lamborghini Urus will use the new Volkswagen MLB platform, same that it will be used on the upcoming Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg. The new MLB platform will incorporate carbon fiber in order to reduce mass.

Regarding the design of the Urus SUV, it appears that most of if will be seen on the final version but there will be some modifications on the lights and grilles. There are no details regarding the powertrain, but we do know that the engine will deliver around 600 hp. Autocar also hints at a hybrid version of the Urus SUV that could use an upgraded version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 used by Audi and an electric motor.

Lamborghini is often associated with sports cars that are some of the best in the world. Now it has brought its expertise to the SUV segment and from the looks of it, Lamborghini aims not only to make an impact but also to dominate among SUVs as it has done for so many years in the world of sports cars.

The Urus is a not just an SUV. The Urus is a Lamborghini SUV. It is powerful, capable of around 440 kW/600 hp, so it lives up to its name, which has always been known for power and strength. The Urus measures 4.99 metres long, 1.66 metres high, and 1.99 metres wide, proportions that will make it stand out in the SUV world when compared with other players in the market. But despite its muscular and sporty appearance and dimensions, the Lamborghini Urus is not a bulky SUV. On the contrary, it is perfect for leisurely, casual travels and day-to-day drives as it offers ample leg room and luggage space for its occupants.

Despite being armed with power and athleticism which allow it to speed up, the Lamborghini Urus is proud of its being environmentally friendly. The Urus guarantees it emits the lowest levels of CO2 emissions versus any other SUV in the market.

This is made possible by the materials used for the makeup of the Lamborghini Urus. Automobili Lamborghini’s long experience was utilized particularly in the consistent application of innovative carbon fiber technology, and from this expertise came a Lamborghini Urus that is lightweight but still able to maintain its dynamism and power.
