Automobili Lamborghini development team and engineers from tire colleague Pirelli in the previous week put the Gallardo Super Trofeo through its speed on the Vallelunga Race Track just outside the Italian capital. This signified the initial tests under replicated race environment, with Lamborghini experimental driver Giorgio Sanna in the cockpit.

Its bodyshell has a length of 4.34 meters, width of 1.90 meters, and height of 1.16 meters. The bodyshell was created through the spaceframe method. This is where the cast nodes and extruded profiles are crafted as a frame wherein aluminum panels are then form fitted and friction locked.

The aluminum underbody has been smoothed and airflow is directed underneath it by the front skirt and splitter. A number of its features are composed of a carbon-fiber composite which include the front compartment cover, rear bonnet, and diffusers.
The side skirts, large wing, and rear skirt are made of the same material. Depending on what is needed on the track, it is possible to change the position of the rear wing with the use of screws. It is equipped with quick-release fasteners that allow the opening and closing of the front compartment panels and bonnet.
Rather than glass, the windows and windscreens are instead composed of lightweight hi-tech Makrolon polycarbonate.
