Lamborghini reveals Gallardo Singapore Limited Edition

Article by Christian A., on February 21, 2011

Lamborghini is celebrating its tenth anniversary in Singapore by releasing a special and very limited edition of Gallardo vehicles. These Gallardos, which have a limited run of only ten units worldwide, are different from the regular Raging Bulls due to the red stripes on the sides and a Merlion logo that's labeled on the exterior of each car. The Gallardos are available in two colors only (black and white).

A report from states that these cars were specially commissioned, for the first time, by Lamborghini factory exclusively for the Singapore market.

Talks were started by Mr Melvin Goh, Managing Director of Lamborghini Singapore, with the Lamborghini factory as early as July 2010 to make sure that the cars can be specially built for Singapore. He revealed that it took nearly three months to finalize the concept.

In addition, the Italian supercar manufacturer is marking this milestone with the start of the company’s “Lamborghini Singapore 10th Anniversary Charity Fund” program. So far, this fundraiser has raised a total of S$200,000 ($156,000) from the sales of ten special limited edition Lamborghini cars. All proceeds go to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) that seeks to improve the lives of less fortunate students  in Singapore.

Once again, Lamborghini sets a high standard for super sports cars, thanks to the brand-new Gallardo LP560-4. Its permanent 4-wheel drive transmission, new engine and new suspension allow it to deliver enhanced dynamics and performance. Its corresponding innovative design takes its unique classic Lamborghini lines to the next level. Never before has powerful elegance been so defined.

Gallardo LP560-4 is a descendant of the most successful Lamborghini that has ever been created. Since it was launched in 2003, about 7100 models have been produced in the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant and sold in the market. Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that it will outshine its ancestor in every single way, with dynamics that are distinctly spectacular and design that sets new, higher standards. Lamborghini will continue to implement its growth strategy with the introduction of Gallardo LP560-4.

The heart of the Gallardo LP560-4 lies in its new 5.2 litre V10 engine with a 560 PS or 412 kW output at 8000 rpm. The 40 PS increase in comparison with the previous model plus the near to 20 kg weight reduction gives a more improved power weight ratio of 2.5 kg per PS (hp), which results to enhanced performance.

In a matter of 3.7 seconds, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h and at 11.8 seconds, its speed is 200 km/h while its top speed is 325 km/h. What’s more, the highly efficient engine with direct fuel injection system called the "Iniezione Diretta Stratificata" never fails to fascinate its driver.

Nevertheless, even with its increased power, it manages to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by an astounding 18%. In addition, the Sant'Agata-based Technical Department engineers have improved handling, stability and traction at high speeds. The redesigning of the 4-wheel drive transmission, optimized aerodynamics, new suspension including the reduced weight and friction between components all add up to the vehicle’s overall enhancements.

Therefore, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is now known as a cutting-edge super sports car that is also meant for the racetrack. In addition, it is unexpectedly suitable for long-distance driving and in spite of its extreme performance capacity; it remains stable and can easily be controlled.

Powerful yet Stylish Elegance

The Lamborghini will always be considered as a highly efficient athlete. Its performance, spontaneous action and precision make it extremely sensual. Its elegance lies in its bare, purist strength. The Centro Stile continues to develop the Lamborghini DNA in all new cars. As a result, the Gallardo LP560-4 showcases the clear surface edges and precise lines in its minimalist design. It doesn’t have any form of embellishments.

Form systematically follows function: the LP 560-4’s front has a new design, deeply squatting to the ground. This adds to its aerodynamic efficiency. The clearly emphasized, enlarged cooling intakes respond to the demand of increased engine power, leading to increased air circulation, which is essential to a powerful vehicle such as this. The spoiler placed low amid the air intakes, enhances aerodynamic equilibrium at increased speeds.
