Lamborghini to launch a new final edition of the Gallardo

Article by Christian A., on August 30, 2012

Few days ago we told you that the Lamborghini Gallardo successor will be less complicated than the current model but in the meantime we found out something more interesting. Lamborghini is going to launch one more special edition model so if you want to be sure you will have a special Gallardo you should check your bank account.

Although there are no details regarding the new edition, Car and Driver says that the new version might not receive just a new paint job, it should be a special model. Lamborghini launched several special editions of the Gallardo, such as the LP570-4 Blancpain, LP550-2 Hong Kong 20th Anniversary, Singapore Limited, LP560-4 Bicolore, LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, LP550-2 Valentino Balboni or the LP570-4 Spyder Performante.

The passion that is present in every Lamborghini is owed to three factors which are performance, extemporaneous action, and precision. However, its greatest strength will always be its elegance. A good way then to describe a Lamborghini is that it is a highly efficient athlete and will always be considered as such. Not surprising given that the development of the brand’s design language never stops. This is seen with every new model that the Centro Stile releases. Take for example the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. The design utilizes a minimalist motif but makes it unique through the clean surfaces and the precise lines.

Indeed, there are no trappings or decorations of any kind on this vehicle. It goes without saying that when the brand evolved the form, it always followed what was dictated by the function. Take the front section for instance. It has been redesigned to show a more road hugging position while helping enhance the aerodynamic efficiency. With the power of the engine being increased, the addition of the large cooling intakes helps improve the circulation of the air.

Meanwhile, a spoiler has been placed in a low position and in the middle of the air instance which further enhances the aerodynamic equilibrium especially when running at high speeds. A new feature in the front is the headlights which have the “daytime” running light incorporated just under the Bi-Xenon lamps. Made up of 15 LED diodes, they have been positioned to form a Y-shape.

This same concept can also be observed on the taillights. Using the Miura Concept, both the Reventón and the Murciélago LP640 have the brake and stop lights with the Y-form appearing three times over.

Similar to the front, the rear section also experienced a redesign. This time though, it gives new meaning to the term “powerful elegance.” This is due to the various features, like the diffuser, bumper, rear lights, and the air cooling vents, that have been placed in precise spots on the exterior. It is because of this that Lamborghini’s newest offering has a wide appearance and looks to be more bonded to the surface of the road. Further, with the right and left cover of the Gallardo’s engine hood having a more streamlined form, it highlights not just the powerful shoulders but even the stretched and extended lines.
