Leaked: 2014 Audi RS Q3

Although it seems a little bit strange, it appears that the Audi RS Q3 will make its world debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, as the first photos with the new car already emerged on the web. As you can see from the photos, the car is in fact a production version of the RS Q3 Concept, unveiled back in April 2012 at the Auto China 2012.

Although there are no details yet, we do expect the brand new RS Q3 to carry the same 2.5-liter TFSI engine found on the concept version and capable to deliver 360 hp. Mated to a seven-speed S tronic gearbox, the 2014 Audi RS Q3 is expected to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h or 165 mph.

Moreover, the brand new RS Q3 will get permanent all-wheel drive and a brand new design consisting of a completely new, aggressively-designed body kit. Just like any other Audi RS, the interior features a flat-bottomed steering wheel, diamond-quilted leather bucket seats, a new gear knob and a new set of aluminum pedals.

New RS Q3 brings to the compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) segment Audi’s performance philosophy. Its engine is a modern classic, delivering 2,480-cc displacement results from a bore of 92.8 mm and a stroke of 82.5 mm.

The 5-cylinder unit was named Int’l Engine of the Year by an international panel of journalists for five consecutive years since 2010. And with its pulling power, inimitable sound, and free-revving character, the 2.5 TFSI is sure to awe everyone. A flap in the SUV’s exhaust system opens to emit a voluminous sound at higher loads and higher rpm.

Moreover, the 5-cylinder turbo's power flows toward a modified 7-speed S tronic. With optimized fine-tuning, the shift times of the 7-speed S tronic transmission are further improved. You can allow the dual-clutch transmission to do all the work through mode D and mode S, or shift gears yourself. Additionally, the new vehicle comes with shift paddles on its steering wheel as standard.

Meanwhile, the lower gears are spaced closely together for a sporty response, whereas the 7th gear is made tall so as to save fuel. The SUV’s launch control system manages acceleration from a standing start to full-throttle.

In addition, an updated multi-plate clutch is the quattro permanent AWD system’s primary component. Mounted on the front of the SUV’s rear axle is an electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated unit. Its electronic controller delivers traction, stability, and driving pleasure in perfect harmony.
