As you may know already, Mercedes-Benz will unveil the new Coupe Style Concept which previews the upcoming CLC (which yesterday became CLA) at this year’s Beijing Auto Show. As expected, the first photos with the new Mercedes-Benz Coupe Style Concept emerged on the web showing a brand new sedan built on the MFA front wheel-drive platform.
The new Coupe Style Concept will enter production next year and will hit big markets such as China and United States, but will also be available in Europe.
The car is powered by a 2.0-liter engine delivering 211 hp (also found on the A250) and the production version will receive all the engines found on the A- and B-Class. A 4x4 version of the car is also expected, as well as an AMG version. The CLA 45 AMG is expected to receive the same turbocharged engine which will power the A45 AMG, the sporty version of the current A-Class.
With breath-taking athletic dimensions and a strong, active design, this four-door coupé’s unique look features an interaction between concave and convex surfaces characteristic for Mercedes.
Some of its more outstandindg features include how the bonnet and its powerdomes are set into the front-end assembly and its diamond-shaped grille, following the concept A-Class design ethos. The concept car’s finish is Alubeam, a colour that emphasises the sculpted quality of its lines.
The Concept Style Coupé state-of-the-art headlamps can be compared to a predator’s wary, intimidating eyes. They even are red in standby. Another special feature is its indicators that, when activated, light up each individual element one after another, like a "Mexican wave".
From the side, three strong lines provide structure for the car. The front structured edge over the wings glides to the rear with a signature dropping line. Another leaner line crosses the shoulder over the rear axle, and a third spreads up a sweeping curve from the front to the rear. All these lines create a greater depth and energy to the side profile. The prominent exterior mirrors’ rippled design expresses the decorative freedoms of a concept car.
This is also the case with the 20-inch wheels, featuring an extremely athletic turbine design. Perforated spoke pins continue the radiator grille’s diamond-theme. Frameless side windows and no B-pillar also feature in the Concept Style Coupé.
