Lexus is offering a number of upgrades to the CT 200h range, including improvements in styling, handling and equipment. Complementing the upgrades are significant cuts in prices and attractive finance options. The 2014 CT 200h S entry level S model is priced at £20,995, representing a £1,000 cut. Other five variants in the range have their prices trimmed up to £1,500.

The 2014 CT 200h is also available with excellent finance offers: the new CT 200h S can be availed from just £219 per month, while the high-spec Advance model can be availed from £259 per month via Lexus Business Drive contract hire. Aside from the affordable prices, the CT 200h boasts of exceptional fuel efficiency.

Across the CT 200h range, CO2  emissions were all below the 100g/km threshold, and in fact, the S version boasts of a new class-leading low of 82g/km – which means the range carries no charge for annual Vehicle Excise Duty. Business owners also get the lowest band for benefit-in-kind taxation, at 10 per cent for the first year.

Thanks to the smooth and refined performance of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system that powers the CT 200h, a user can keep his fuel bills low, as the car has official combined cycle consumption figures of 78.5mpg for the S grade, and 68.9mpg for the other models in the range. Lexus will unveil later the full details of the upgrades like the new styling elements that align it closer with the latest developments in Lexus’s distinctive design language.

This is most visible in the signature grilles, which have been rendered wider and lower to underscore a ground-hugging look. This impression is even more noticeable in the F Sport model, which has the same mesh pattern as the new IS F Sport saloon. The vehicle will also don a new rear spoiler with integrated air ducts.

Exterior Design

The exterior of the new Lexus CT 200h has been styled in a way that it shows more sophistication and is more dynamic. This was done in order to entice a younger market of customers. On the side, making this model easy to identify are the newly developed 10-spoke alloy wheels available in a 16-inch variant or a 17-inch version. A roof antenna styled like a shark fin can be seen as well. It is the front section though that has a number of interesting features.

One can easily see that the design of the brand’s “spindle grille” has been evolved even further. By pushing the center in a more forward manner, it results in a powerful form that also has a more three-dimensional effect.

This allows it to make sure that the bonnet, front fenders, and lower bumpers, can be shaped in an aerodynamic form. When compared to the grille on the current model, the space on the bottom corners of the new one is wider by 100 mm. Furthermore, the spindle “pinch point” has been lowered. This reinforces the athletic and wide track of the CT 200h and the low front profile.

Highlighting the spindle shape is the dark finish while the contrast of the lower metallic paint trim with the upper chrome paint trim puts focus even more on the three-dimensional and sophisticated structure of the new grille. As expected from a Lexus model, the grille is placed on a lower position such that the headlamps give it that resolute appearance, a signature of the brand.

For the headlamps, they come with the projector LED lamps having a smoked and high quality metallic finish. On the edges of the lower bumper, the fog lamp housings show they have been detailed in order to complement the spindle grille’s darker finish. They have the aerodynamic integral slits in order to allow for the flow of air on the front to be smoother. This helps enhance stability when running at high speed.

The current range of six model grades – S, SE, Advance, Luxury, F Sport and Premier – is retained, with the addition of some new equipment features and options.

At the heart of the range the Advance model benefits from a comprehensive upgrade that introduces parking sensors, heated front seats and the new, fully integrated Lexus Navigation system as standard. This wealth of new features it provided with no increase in the model’s on-the-road price.

Elsewhere in the CT 200h line-up a GPS-controlled clock is provided on higher grade models and the Lexus Navigation package is offered as an alternative to the established Premium system (standard on the Advance, as detailed above).
