GMC has partnered up with video game maker EA Sports to feature its vehicles in Madden NFL 25. The featured vehicles will include the redesigned 2014 GMC Sierra pickup, the Yukon and Terrain sports utility vehicles, and the Acadia crossover. The partnership will also see the GMC logo appearing on stadium advertisements and content throughout the Madden NFL 25.
This will be the first time that an auto brand has featured vehicles in the game series. Using data that GMC designers generated while creating the vehicles, staff at EA Sports were able to match distinctive features of the cars used in the series.
The cars in the game look so similar with their real-life counterparts, even in terms of headlight styling, signature grille and accents. GMC’s light trucks will be featured after a player grabs a Super Bowl victory. Interestingly, the player named MVP in the game will receive a vehicle, just like in real life.
According to a GMC spokeswoman, the four featured models -- Sierra, Yukon, Terrain and Acadia -- rotate throughout gameplay. GMC is the National Football League's official automotive sponsor.
As a part of its partnership with the NFL, GMC selects a Never Say Never Moment of the Week, a play that highlights strong performance by players. Gamers could download and reenact those moments in Madden NFL 25, which will be rolled out on Aug. 27, 2013.
“GMC’s association with professional football is rooted in the common bonds of strength and determination,” said Sandra Moore, director of GMC Advertising and Sales Promotions. “Our new Madden integration allows us to show that we’re a technologically savvy brand as well.”
GMC’s all-new Sierra 1500 full-size pickup can be considered as the most powerful, most refined, and most advanced truck in the carmaker’s 110-year history. The 2014 Sierra features a bold new exterior housing one of the vehicle’s three new EcoTec3 engines. It also boasts a fully updated cabin equipped with next-generation IntelliLink connectivity as well as other features that have been designed for the benefit of discerning truck owners.
Tony DiSalle, VP for Marketing at GMC, said that the company’s engineers and designers did not leave anything on the table when they developed the latest Sierra pickup. According to him, these trucks possess all the power and all the capability that are expected in the current market, as well as excellent fuel efficiency and a lot of unexpected yet purposeful features that were developed especially for truck owners.
Other than its new technology and new design, the 2014 GMC Sierra also showcases the longest standard features list in a full-size GMC pickup. Additionally, many premium features can be found on the all-new Sierra, including connectivity solutions, standard tie-down system at the rear, and standard projector beam headlamps.
Moreover, the new Sierra's engine portfolio has been updated for the 2014 model year, with the objective of increasing power, fuel efficiency, and torque across the board. The Sierra will offer a 4.3L V-6 engine, a 5.3L V-8 engine, and a 6.2L V-8 engine, all from the EcoTec3 engine family. Each of these engines features continuously variable valve timing, standard direct injection, and Active Fuel Management. This means that these engines smoothly switch to run on 4 cylinders while light-load driving in order to save fuel.
