Maserati, Bulgari celebrate anniversaries with special Octo Maserati chronograph

Article by Christian A., on September 23, 2014

Maserati and Bulgari, celebrating their 100th and 130th anniversary respectively, have joined hands to create a unique and exceptional sports watch -- the Octo Maserati chronograph. This celebratory sports watch epitomizes the collaboration between two different yet similar Italian brands. Maserati has become true symbol of Italian auto design and sports success, having achieved countless and priceless victories in the racing world throughout its century of existence.

The experience, expertise, technologies, disciplines and values acquired from the conceptualization and development of winning race cars were smoothly translated into remarkable and exceptional GT cars.

These cars are unlike typical that while fast but are restrictive. GT cars were developed and made not only with the ability to travel fast, but also transport its occupants comfortably and elegantly. Maserati makes cars that perform both for the road and for the customer.

To mark Maserati’s hundred years of auto manufacturing excellence, Bulgari conceived a special watch -- the Octo Maserati chronograph. This special watch follows on the partnership that the two Italian companies started in 2012 with the Octo Quadri-Retro Chronograph.

For the eventual year of 2014, Bulgari is launching the Octo Maserati – also dubbed as Velocissimo, which means “the fastest.” The Octo Maserati is powered by a self-winding chronograph movement with 36,000 vibrations per hour and features 45 jewels.

The special edition – 1,914 of which will be made available as a tribute to Maserati’s founding year – comes with a silicon escapement and an oscillating pinion operating as a clutch ensuring that it is activated precisely. It also comes with Calibre BVL 328 that provides a 50-hour power reserve. [source: Maserati]
