This one-of-a-kind sculpture is something your money cannot buy. Rather, this unique piece will be given as a gift to the 106 owners of McLaren’s next hypercar. As can be expected, this sculpture is a preview of McLaren’s BP23 project.
The BP23 Speed Form, the name of this super valuable sculpture, weighs 7.9 pounds (3.6 kilograms) and measures 15.7 x 8 x 3.1 inches (409 x 205 x 80 millimeters). Each of the 106 examples has been created with the use of the latest five axis CNC cutting technology, while the final touches are made by hand to attain a higher level of “craftsmanship.” Each sculpture needed more than 100 hours to be built, including 30 hours of expert hand polishing. At the end of the process, the sculpture will have to get the approval of a craftsman who checks the quality of each structure, making sure that it has attained the highest quality possible.
According to the automaker, all of the 106 examples of the legendary F1’s three seat successor have already been accounted for. The British automaker claims that this hypercar will be the fastest production McLaren model to date, as it can hit a top speed of 243 miles per hour (391 kilometers per hour) as well as being the car with the highest level of aerodynamics.
The hypercar, which is also a successor of the P1, will use hybrid power and is scheduled to get to customers in 2019. The model will have a combined output of 902 horsepower (686 kilowatts) and in only 2.8 seconds, it could accelerate to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour). Therefore, it indeed is going to be more powerful than the P1.
Right now, McLaren is currently working on its plan, which is to develop 15 new cars or derivatives by the end of 2022. Interestingly, the Track22 strategy will need a huge investment of £1 billion (approximately $1.4 billion) for research and development.
Customers of the BP23 will be receiving their sculptures this week as a preview of what will soon be in their garage. Of course, like any other limited edition product, the Speed Form will be getting its unique serial number.
With its performance and looks, it’s no wonder that all the 106 examples of the McLaren BP23 have been accounted for, even as each unit costs well over one million dollars. We’re willing to bet that these hand crafted sculptures are worth a fortune as well.
