Mégane Renaultsport 265 has starting price of £24,825

Mégane Renaultsport continues the success of the multi award-winning 250 product lineup with an improved, new model for this year, packing more torque and power. The new performance flagships from Renault are the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Cup and the 265, which are tagged at £24,825 and £26,025 on-the-road, respectively.

They are now available for ordering. The main enhancement on the second phase of the automaker's halo model is a 15hp improvement on its predecessor and an additional 20Nm torque, which are both released through the vehicle's Renaultsport Dynamic Management program.

The Renaultsport 265 boasts of improved performance statistics, compared to the previous model, accelerating to 62mph from a standstill in exactly six seconds (instead of 6.1), reaching a 158 mph top speed, up by an extra 2 mph.

In daily driving, 360Nm is available all throughout a broad rev band from 3,000 to 5,000rpm. Its remarkable power-to-weight ratio is 191hp per ton. In order to achieve these gains, Renaultsport upgraded the engine's maximum turbo pressure to 2.5 bar, up by 0.2, together with the revamp of air intake to take into account the running temperatures and higher pressure.

In Cup form or with the optional Cup chassis specified on the 265, the new model maintains the core of the Mégane Renaultsport's award-winning formula such as the critically acclaimed Cup chassis (dampers and anti-roll bar, grooved brake discs and stiffer springs), Brembo brakes, mechanical limited slip differential, and the innovative PerfoHub independent steering axis front suspension set-up, which virtually does away with torque steer.

The brand new Mégane Renaultsport 265 lineup boasts of a wide range of technological features including the Renaultsport Dynamic Management system set-up, which enables the driver to change between two power settings.

The default is 250hp/340Nm of torque for 5% improved fuel consumption. Changing to the Sport mode will enhance the Mégane up to 265hp/360Nm of torque. The Sport mode is activated simply through the ESC button. This mode also boosts the vehicle's exhaust note. Aside from the equipment enhancements, three new items are available as options.

One of these is the Renaultsport 'Red Design Pack', which is very similar to the limited-edition 265 Trophy's style, with red striping on the front blade, side protection moldings and rear diffuser for £350.
