Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Concept 358 unveiled at 2010 Australian Motor Show

Article by Christian A., on October 15, 2010

Mercedes-Benz Australia introduced today at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show the Concept 358. Seeing the photo you’d say that is nothing special with this car, but take a better look and you will see that this is the only C 63 AMG to be painted in designo Pearl Orange paint from the AMG factory in Affalterbach.

Furthermore, the car comes with the AMG Performance Package Plus which ads more power (486 hp), but also a new set of unique 19-inch multi spoke alloy wheels in black, KEYLESS-GO and extended designo leather appointments inside.

If you though that the Concept 358 was the only surprise from Mercedes-Benz, you are wrong as the manufacturer also introduced the only SLS AMG in the world to be painted in designo magno Night Black.

The car features red highlights both inside and out and promises to be an instant collector’s item.

Horst von Sanden, the managing director for Mercedes-Benz Cars Australia, promised in 2010 that the company will debut two world exclusive cars in that year’s Australian Motor Show. These exclusives turned out to be the SLS AMG and the C 63 AMG, the latter of which debuted the AMG Performance Package Plus when it was brought on display during the motor show.

The AMG Performance Package Plus became available as well beginning with the motor show. Customers in Australia simply had to visit their local dealer to order the package for their C 63 AMG. The package was available for both Saloon and Estate models of the vehicle.

C 63 AMG had a special place in the hearts of Australians, who represented AMG’s fifth-largest market. The model had become a best-seller for the company since 2008, when it first appeared in and broke records at the Bathurst racing circuit.

Sales of both Saloon and Estate models combined reached 1,250 units as of the 2010 Australian Motor Show. The other vehicle was a variant of the SLS AMG, which was the only SLS AMG to debut in design magno Night Black finish.

This particular model’s black finish was highlighted by red accents. The unique design is guaranteed to put the SLS AMG into a place in every car collector’s repertoire.
