The bold looks of the new Mercedes CLA is a result of its dynamic design language and its sporty proportions, as highlighted by a harmonious interplay between its concave and convex surfaces.
This new four-door coupe is marked by certain elements like bonnet with powerdomes and its diamond radiator grille. Contained behind the headlamp cover glass are LED units and light modules that have been laid out to create the so-called "flare effect" for CLA’s daytime driving lights and indicators.
On the design level, the CLA certainly represents an evolution of the modern Mercedes-Benz CLS. For instance, the new CLA comes with three prominent lines. Flowing along the characteristic dropping line to the rear is the CLA’s front structural edge over the wings. A leaner line flows along the shoulder muscle above the rear axle, while the third character line runs from the wheel to the rear in a sweeping curve.
Meanwhile, the rear of the new CLA helps emphasize the width of the four-door coupe, as highlighted by an interplay between convex and concave surfaces. This is further emphasized by a gently sloping roof contour and the curvature of the rear window – elements that lend the CLA a coupe-like appearance. In addition, the drawn-in C-pillars and dynamic rear shoulder muscle help make the rear appear more athletic.
The muscular lines of the shoulders – extending into the rear end – frame the CLA’s tail lights, with an horizontal orientation that helps highlight the rear’s dynamic width. The light functions on the rear feature an arrow-style arrangement.
Customers may avail of an optional large panoramic sliding sunroof, which has a fixed front section made from polycarbonate with its moving element made of mineral crystal. Its side trims are styled to match the glass look of the sunroof.
