Mercedes-Benz GLK Coupe (GLC) slated to arrive in 2016

Mercedes-Benz intends to do well in the midsize-SUV segment by presenting a coupé version of the next-generation GLK. This is the rival to the boxy BMW X3 and Audi Q5 but since it’s not offered in a right-hand drive variant, it’s not available in the UK presently. It is known internally as the GLC and is slated to arrive in 2016.

Revisions for the second generation GLK include getting a body that’s sleeker and more stylish. This makes it more suitable for leading to a three-door coupe version.

The GLC will be one of the first models taken from a new, rear-wheel drive Mercedes platform, referred to as the MRA. The automaker has plans to offer multiple engines for the GLC, which is targeted at the 2014 Porsche Macan, its small SUV.

Most of the sales are likely to come from 2.0 or 2.2-litre petrol and diesels. The automaker is also considering an AMG GLC.

It’s possible that this hotshoe version will adopt a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, which delivers 462bhp. The higher level GLCs will feature Mercedes 4Matic drive as standard. However, it will be offered as an option for the lesser variants.

Mercedes-Benz introduces the second generation of their mid-range SUV that arrives after GLC and takes pride of it on several fronts. The new SUV raises the levels of its brand hallmark, particularly on its excellent safety features. Also, it has state-of-the-art features for optimum energy efficiency and assistance systems. In comparison to the previous models, the fuel consumption is lower by 19%.

Moreover, the air body control multi-chamber air suspension has no parallel within the segment. It also comes with dynamic select transmission modes, which offer an extended range, and the 4matic permanent all-wheel drive. These features make the ride more comfortable as well as make it more agile regardless of what surface it is on.

Looking at its physical appearance, the body has a clear and sensual design. It was demonstrated by the GLC Coupe showcar concept in the spring. It went out successfully as the over-all look become the SUV’s standard for its future models.

The new GLC is the epitome of the brand’s next step as it implements its SUV ideas.

According to Thomas Weber, the Management Board of Daimler AG member and a proponent for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, the combination of ultimate driving comfort with its sporty design, eye-catching equipment, and new design impresses everyone as it improves their driving experiences.

The new GLC was built under the design philosophy that tends to go for modern looks and sensual purity instead of the typical off-road appearance.

Employing its purest forms results to a dynamic design and the enhancement of its emotional appeal. All of Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art SUVs boast distinct precise surfaces and lines that highlight the clear design line on its surfaces. Thus, technically speaking, Mercedes-Benz is able to set its new standards in all its vehicles – the mid-size SUV’s off-road capabilities continue to be as excellent as ever.
