The new Mercedes-Benz Atego with Euro VI – the fourth and last model from the Mercedes-Benz truck family to be subjected to a total makeover – has now arrived. It is likely to continue to earn its reputation as a top-seller in the short-radius distribution segment from 6.5 to 16 t permissible gross vehicle weight.
When it comes to quality, durability, reliability, repair and maintenance costs, the new version of the European market-leading Mercedes-Benz Atego has kept its place as a benchmark in the light- and mediumweight truck segment.
Actually, it has reinforced its lead by presenting many innovations when it comes to the drive system, chassis and cab. The new Atego drive system is powered by two fully redesigned BlueEfficieny Power Euro VI engines with the most advanced design features.
Buyers can choose from seven new Euro VI engine options that can be mated to any of a wide variety of transmissions in manual or automated versions to correspond to all power categories. This guarantees that the ultimate combination can be determined for any particular requirement profile that may occur in short-radius distribution operations.
The Atego has light-duty variants that use the recently designed BlueEfficiency Power four-cylinder engines with a displacement of 5.1 litres from the OM 934 series. It comes with a choice of four separate power categories.

Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz Atego is offered with any of three newly designed six-cylinder OM 936 common rail units with a performance range from 175 kW (238 hp) to 220 kW (299 hp) and a displacement of 7.7 litres.
