Mercedes-Benz officially announces AMG Sport models, GLE Coupe teased

Article by Christian A., on November 28, 2014

Mercedes-Benz officially confirmed its new product line by the name of “AMG Sport”, which will fill the gap between the AMG Sports package for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the high-performance AMG models. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new Sport models will appeal to an even broader-ranging clientele worldwide and will help the sport division to achieve new sales record.

Mercedes-AMG will unveil its first two AMG Sport models at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. We know that one model will be the C450 AMG Sport, a new model that will fill the gap between the C400 4Matic and the high-performance C63 AMG.

The C450 AMG Sport will use a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that will deliver around 367 hp. The model will be offered as standard with all-wheel-drive, as well as a tuned chassis and brake parts taken from the high-performance AMG models.

The second model teased by the company is the GLE Coupe a.k.a. company's rival for the BMW X6. Showing a brand new face that will also be seen on the new M-Class a.k.a. the GLE-Class, this new model will be slotted between the GLE 500 and the GLE 63 AMG.

"The new Sport models represent a convincing proposition for our customers: genuine sports car technology becomes accessible, appealing to an even broader-ranging clientele worldwide," observes Tobias Moers. "For all our dynamic growth, we remain true to our brand claim of "Driving Performance".
