What came as a total surprise for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept, an exclusive interpretation of an open-top two-seater created by MINI and the well-known coachbuilder Touring Superleggera. Taking a closer look at the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept we can see a classic roadster, a compact and agile two-seater that expresses the minimalist and emotional style of motoring.
What’s more interesting is that the concept is fitted with an electric drivetrain and insiders suggest that this is a development of that used by the popular BMW i3. As you may expect it, the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept is seen as a rival for the Mazda MX-5.
Regarding the design, we find the traditional MINI design icons such as the two circular headlights and the hexagonal grille. In addition, the two fog lights resemble the circular contours of the headlamps and provide a smaller interpretation of them in the radiator grille.
Seen from the side, the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept shows the characteristic ‘Touring’ line. At the rear, we find the unusual lights designed in the form of a Union Jack divided in two as well as a striking fin that defines the look.
The exterior also shows a new specially developed exterior paint finish Como Blue as well as elaborate rims. The interior shows tube-shaped structural elements, and a stylish dashboard made from a single aluminum sheet.
The sporty bucket seats are inspired by the MINI motor racing achievements and wrapped in black leather. True to the MINI Motto "Hide & Reveal", accentuations in Misty Magenta provide a touch of Italian flair in tongue-in-cheek MINI style in concealed spots such as the two hot air outlets under the instrument panel and inside the door openings in the structural elements of the doors.
