MINI unveils the Clubman Bond Street

Article by Christian A., on January 24, 2013

After seeing the Camden, Bayswater and Baker Street, MINI decided that it is time to introduce a new exclusive limited edition: ladies and gentlemen, this is the MINI Clubman Bond Street. Set to make its official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the new MINI Clubman Bond Street promises to focus on the inherent practicality and superb driving dynamics of the Clubman, with a unique interior and exterior interpretation.

According to the official press release, the production will start in March 2013 and the Clubman Bond Street will be available for a strictly limited period. Regarding its looks, the MINI Clubman Bond Street features a lustrous Midnight Black Metallic finish for the exterior, with a contrasting roof, exterior mirror caps, bonnet stripes and the lower sections of the C-pillars all finished in Cool Champagne.

The design is completed by the twin spoke 17” wheels finished in black with a highlight being the trim ring around their edge in Cool Champagne. “Bond Street” script is applied to the side indicator surrounds but also on the doors’ sill protection strips. The interior features leather sports seats finished in Carbon Black with contrast piping and stitching, while the interior surfaces are finished in Deep Champagne.

The Chrome Line interior package adds the final flourish to a highly distinctive and truly premium cabin ambience. The MINI Clubman Bond Street will be available with four engine options: the MINI Cooper (122hp), MINI Cooper S (184hp), MINI Cooper D (112hp) and MINI Cooper SD (143hp).

All the engines are offered as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, but as an option MINI offers the six-speed automatic. Pricing starts at £20,275 for the MINI Cooper Clubman Bond Street, at £21,625 foe the MINI Cooper D Clubman Bond Street, at £23,355 for the MINI Cooper S Clubman Bond Street and at £24,045 for the MINI Cooper SD Clubman Bond Street.

The split-door Mini Clubman is inspired by a number of classic Mini models like the Austin Mini Countryman and the Morris Mini Traveller, as well as the Mini Clubman Estate. The new Mini Clubman is a modern car laden with advanced technologies and features. In a sense, the new Mini Clubman is a modern recreation and reinterpretation of these classic Mini cars, as shown first by four Clubman concept cars. Now, the most important design cues of these concept cars are featured in the new Mini Clubman.

A closer look at the new Mini Clubman would reveal a design that is heavily influenced by its classic predecessors. In fact, the new Mini Clubman could be described as a model with reinterpreted classic features as made more elegant by a modern design language shaped by modern function. For instance, its wooden framed doors with exposed hinges are a design cue of Mini classic, while its door surfaces aerodynamically merging into the C-pillars tells the modern side of this car.

Moreover, the color scheme of the new Mini Clubman is heavily inspired by classic rear-door models. The bumper and the C-pillars are finished in contrasting finish thereby resulting to a stunning door surround. Likewise, the color of the rear door surround is matched with that of the contrast roof, which is available – as standard -- in either Silver or Black. Optionally, the roof could be finished in body color. Whe

MINI Clubman Bond Street

While fashion statements come and go, authentic style is here for the duration. As a one-off in the premium small car segment, the MINI has cemented its place in the street scene of modern cities in inimitable style. And now the British brand is poised to unveil the MINI Clubman Bond Street design model - and deliver an eye-catching statement of signature charisma and premium quality in the process. Generously equipped and with a searching eye for detail, this is a MINI tailor-made for style-conscious customers of the particularly discerning variety. The MINI Clubman Bond Street will step out for the first time to a public audience at the International Geneva Motor Show in March 2013.

The MINI Clubman Bond Street bears the name of the most exclusive shopping street in London, a place steeped in the tradition of classical style, the British way of life and the appreciation of quality. Setting off for a shopping trip here, in the heart of the City of Westminster, therefore is an expression of fine taste. But the MINI Clubman Bond Street doesn't just cut a fine dash in terms of looks. Its Midnight Black metallic paintwork teams up with the Cool Champagne contrast colour for the roof, exterior mirror caps, lower sections of the C-pillars and bonnet stripes to provide a striking showcase for the MINI Clubman's dynamically flowing body lines and extended wheelbase. And, like the range of high-quality equipment provided, the bespoke interior colour and materials concept - which includes exclusively designed sports seats and a leather-covered instrument panel - makes the perfect fit for the generous levels of on-board spaciousness.

The new MINI design model will go on sale worldwide in March 2013 with shoppers able to browse a collection of up to four engine variants, depending on the market: the 90 kW/122 hp MINI Cooper Clubman and MINI Cooper D Clubman with 82 kW/112 hp jostle for attention alongside the MINI Cooper S Clubman (135 kW/184 hp) and MINI Cooper SD Clubman (105 kW/143 hp). All the engines link up as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, while a six-speed automatic is available as an option.

Harmoniously coordinated design and equipment features for the exterior and interior allow the MINI Clubman Bond Street to stand out discreetly but unmistakably from the automotive crowd. The exclusive colour scheme for the exterior boasts the addition of special details which further accentuate the distinctive character of the MINI Clubman Bond Street. Its 17-inch light-alloy wheels in Twin Spoke Black design come with an exclusive trim ring in Cool Champagne, and the side indicator surrounds and door sill strips both display Bond Street lettering.

Other bespoke features of the design model are interior appointments including Lounge Leather sports seats in Carbon Black with piping and stitching in Deep Champagne, and a leather-covered instrument panel in Black/Carbon Black. These adornments blend in with interior surfaces in Deep Champagne, leather trim for the Colour Line and armrests with contrast stitching in Deep Champagne, floor mats with black piping and contrast stitching likewise in Deep Champagne, and the Chrome Line Interior package.

The stylish design of the exterior and interior is complemented by a particularly high-quality array of equipment. The MINI Clubman Bond Street will greet customers with features including front foglamps and the Chrome Line Exterior package, as well as an extra dose of driving fun and comfort thanks to options such as climate control, an onboard computer, the Sport Button, a rain sensor with automatic headlamp activation, a leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and cruise control, and height adjustment for the front passenger seat. A storage package and lighting package are among the other items included in the exclusive specification list for the MINI Clubman Bond Street.
