Mitsubishi previews the Concept G4 ahead of 2013 Bangkok Motor Show

Article by Christian A., on March 6, 2013

Mitsubishi will introduce the Concept G4 at the Bangkok International Motor Show. This concept’s name stands for “Global 4-door sedan.” It is meant to preview Mitsubishi’s next small car. It’s likely that the G4 will preview a sedan variant of the new Mitsubishi Mirage. The subcompact Mirage, which is already offered as a five-door hatchback, will also be sold in Canada.

It may later start selling in the U.S. to compete with the Chevrolet Spark. Mitsubishi claims that this concept car offers good maneuverability, plenty of interior room, and impressive fuel economy as a result of low weight and drag. The Concept G4 features swept-back styling and a coupe-like falling roofline, with huge headlights with LEDs, and a big front grille.

It actually resembles the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. It is powered by a 1.2-liter inline-three engine and continuously variable transmission, the same powertrain used in the Mirage. It’s believed that if the Concept G4 is offered as a sedan, it will gain more success in markets where hatchbacks typically don’t have high sales, such as in the U.S. and China.
