Nissan revealed the pricing and the complete set of details for the 2013 Nissan cube, which has started selling at its dealers nationwide. The Nissan cube still offers the one-of-a-kind style and versatility that has made it remarkable in its class. It features an asymmetrical rear window, refrigerator-style rear door and broad variety of personal accessories.
The modifications for the 2013 model include a simplified model lineup, with cube presently available in two well-equipped models - S and SL. The PUREDRIVE badge is worn on all the 2013 cube models, to show off its excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions. There’s one new exterior color available – the Sapphire Slate. The base 2013 Nissan Cube has a starting price of $17,550 (which includes a $790 destination charge).
This makes it $1,790 more expensive than the outgoing base 2012 Nissan Cube. Nissan had removed the base Cube 1.8 model for 2013. Instead, the new base model is the 2013 Nissan Cube 1.8 S M/T. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line 2013 Nissan Cube 1.8 SL CVT has a starting price of $19,650, including shipping.
The front-wheel drive cube is built on Nissan's proven B-platform and features a standard 122-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a choice of Nissan's advanced, smooth shifting Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 6-speed manual transmission. The 2013 cube can return 31 mpg Highway with the CVT transmission.
The spacious interior of the cube can hold up to five passengers, with comfortable front seating and a three-position sliding, reclining theater-style rear seat. Its distinctive interior features include asymmetrical Fine Vision gauges, "Water Drop" interior accents and detachable multi-purpose hooks.
The technology used in the cube includes the Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, Rockford Fosgate subwoofer with six upgraded speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription is sold separately) and RearView Monitor. All models have a Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System and Interface System for iPod as standard. The individual accessories available include a 20-color interior accent lighting kit, a shag dash topper, body kit and distinctive wheels.
The latest Nissan Cube was developed from the distinctive characteristics of its unconventional styling. Its stance and dynamism are enhanced. The new model’s lengthy wheelbase offers an extraordinary maximization of space. It also contributes to a more assertive stance. The model has a longer wheelbase compared to its overall length (a 2530mm wheelbase against a 3980mm overall length) and a wide track. Consequently, the wheels are pushed away from each corner.
Nissan's European Vice President for Product Planning, Pierre Loing said the work and determination exerted by the engineers, designers and planners in making the advanced model is unprecedented. It may have even surpassed the Nissan GT-R team’s effort. The team relentlessly illustrated and brainstormed so that the appearance of the bulldog was developed. The team’s method was not a conventional one.
Its appearance is fulfilled through the extensive headlights and grill, the short "tail" section and the significant body proportions. Bar-like taillights emphasize the secured look in the rear. The makers of the latest model wanted to retain the vehicle’s "pure design" by simplifying the design.
