After announced the fact that it will buy Ducati, Audi also announced today that it will build a North American plant in Mexico. The exact location for the new plant will be chosen by Audi later this year and as expected the German carmaker will manufacture in Mexico an SUV model starting in 2016. According to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Mexico world’s top ten automotive locations and will offer a blend of tradition and experience.

For those who don’t know, Volkswagen already has an an automotive plant in Puebla and an engine plant in Silao. "The new plant will become a fully fledged member of the Audi production network and will implement the very latest standards in terms of resource efficiency and production processes,” stated Frank Dreves, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Production. “Audi is all about premium quality no matter what the location.”

Following on from the policy decision, the next step will be to conduct a detailed examination of various locations in Mexico. AUDI AG aims to choose the exact location within the course of the year. “The factors that we will take into account include not just the specifics of the real estate and its logistical links,” emphasized Thomas Sigi, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Human Resources. He also cited quality of life as a decisive criterion. “It is important for us to be able to find well-qualified employees there,” continued Sigi, referring to the need for an effective infrastructure of schools and universities.

The exterior of the Audi Q5 is mainly defined by the athletic proportions especially with how the body shows the use of the flowing lines plus the sporty sculptured surfaces. It looks likes it was shaped from a single piece of block. There is a tornado that is just under the side windows which are able to cut sharp edges on top of the wheels. Another design feature is the tailgate which wraps all around the body.

This design in particular is standard for all Q models from Audi. The flat roof arch is another sporty element though for the new Q5, it has been sharpened and modified meticulously. Meanwhile the sing-frame grille has the chamfered top corners while the combination of the Audi rings and the chrome struts give it that sculptural look. New as well are the fog lights in the front, air inlets, and bumpers.

Offered as an option are the xenon plus headlights where its edge has a continuous band of daytime running lights in LED. This is the same treatment done for the tail lights in the rear section. As mentioned earlier, it has a wrap-around tailgate, which is standard for the Q models. This tailgate is made up of aluminum, much like the hood of the engine.

For the passenger cell, the brand utilized the highly-advanced hardened steel which helps lower the weight. In addition to being lightweight, this material is also exceptionally strong. For customers who want to highlight the appearance of their Q5, Audi is offering a unique off-road styling package as well as a sporty S line exterior package. Attractive, versatile, and sporty, these are words that best describe the Q56. No wonder then why this model has become the most-successful of Europe’s mid-class SUV.

This latest offering can be considered as the best there is, considering the new solutions implemented for the design and the new assistance systems and infotainment systems equipped. There is also a new engine fitted inside as the Q5 has a hybrid Quattro which is powered by a six-cylinder engine combined with the fuel economy offered by a four-cylinder engine. In addition, the new SQ5 TDI is also able to show excellent potential, considering the output of 313 hp (230 kW). This also marks the first time an S model from the brand will have a diesel engine.
