Pre-owned McLaren MP4-12C Greenwich Edition is on sale

Article by Anita Panait, on May 8, 2013

A used 2012 McLaren MP4-12C is on sale at Miller Motorcars’ McLaren of Greenwich. An interested buyer may mistake this used 2012 McLaren MP4-12C as a prototype version. However, a closer look at the vehicle would reveal that it is actually the McLaren MP4-12C Greenwich Edition. The specs of this used McLaren car are just like other MP4-12Cs except that it wears the carmaker’s special camouflage vinyl skin that’s typically seen on spied test cars.

It reportedly took three days to completely apply the special camouflage vinyl skin on the McLaren MP4-12C Greenwich edition. It is said that the swirling white lines on the black background actually mirror race tracks around the world. Aside from this exterior detail, everything else is a typical 2012 McLaren MP4-12C that is powered by a 3.8-liter V-8 that provides up to 592 hp of output and 443 lb-ft of torque.

The engine that sits on the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C has an upgraded output of 616 hp. Having a price of just $259,035, the used McLaren MP4-12C Greenwich edition has 4100 miles on the odometer and features a surround sound system, sports exhaust, and the Stealth package. The used 2012 MP4-12C for sale clearly carries a premium, considering that a 2013 McLaren 12C bears a starting tag of $241,800, before options.

The name McLaren has always been synonymous with innovation. In 1981, McLaren’s Formula 1 MP4/1 featured the first ever carbon composite construction, setting a new trend that all other Formula 1 team deemed worthy of following.

McLaren continued its revolutionary ways by installing carbon fibre on road cars in the 1993 McLaren F1. The car was fitted with a carbon fibre chassis which has become, even in the present times, the common denominator of the world’s most expensive and rarest cars.

McLaren is not done yet, and this time, it has pioneered another innovation, the Carbon Monocell, in its latest car, McLaren MP4-12C. The 12C is spiced up with carbon fibre chassis and composed of carbon composite, making the 12C super strong, rigid on the torsion, durable, and lightweight. The one-piece moulding engineering marvel that is the 12C is built like a compact car that makes it dynamic and easy to handle on the road.
