PSA names Arnaud de Lamothe as marketing and communications chief

Article by Anita Panait, on September 18, 2012

French carmaker PSA/Peugeot-Citroen has appointed Arnaud de Lamothe as its new marketing and communications director, replacing Xavier Duchemin. Lamothe currently serves as assistant director of PSA's Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile joint venture in China. He will report to his new post effective Nov. 1, 2012.

Duchemin, on the other hand, was appointed as the sales director of Peugeot's French operations in June. Lamothe’s appointment marks the second time this September that PSA called its top executives from China. On Sept. 3, 2012, PSA announced that it has appointed Maxime Picat as the new chief of the Peugeot brand, replacing Vincent Rambaud, who will exit the carmaker for personal reasons.

Picat will commence his duties in Peugeot starting Oct. 1, 2012. He is currently the chief of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen, a post he has held since last year. Lamothe will be responsible for Citroen's communications and marketing strategy, which entails advertising campaigns, brand image management, and social media initiatives. Lamothe became a part of Citroen in 1995, starting in the brand's sales division for the French market.

He was named as director of Citroen's operations in Croatia in 2002 and in the Netherlands in 2005. Five years later, Citroen named Lamothe as assistant director of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen in 2010. Duchemin, on the other hand, joined Citroen in 1991 as chief of direct marketing for its UK unit. After that assignment, Duchemin was named to different executive positions at Citroen, including as the managing director of Citroen's operations in Austria and the UK. He was appointed as director of marketing and communications in 2009.
