Article by Christian A., on April 2, 2012

The glossy Bentley magazine, a quarterly publication distributed worldwide to 48,000 owners and readers, is now available at bentleymedia.com/digital-edition/magazine/40. One of the highlights of this new issue is an article on Bentley's EXP 9 F concept, which was the star of the show at the latest Geneva Salon d'Auto.

This concept SUV takes inspiration from the power of the falcon, which is the fastest creature in the world. This vehicle signifies a historic moment in the development of the brand, bringing the automaker to new heights. Julia Marozzi explores the development of the powerful vision. Another highlight of this issue is the new Bentley 4.0 liter V8 model Continental GT and GTC, which took to the roads and track around the popular northern wine-growing region of Spain.

The sound of the new V8 powerplant accompanied John Studd in his journey around the Navarra Circuit racetrack. He then drove their way back to the popular Marques de Riscal hotel, which was designed by Frank Gehry. Aviation services entrepreneur Penny Stephens discusses with Nick Foulkes the features that make Bentley special.

In another feature, there’s Simon de Burton who goes on the chorological wild side with a series of technologically radical timepieces created to attract the fearless travelers and daring collectors. Still another highlight is Avis Cardella talking to New Zealander Nicky Tripp, who has had a 4.5-liter Bentley for more than 80 years. This Bentley is still going strong. In another feature, Bruce Munro talks about his recent light sculpture installations, which are both enchanting and evocative. Bentley sales manager drives for charity on one of the magical light devices of Munro.

Bentley unveiled the new EXP 9 F Concept – a possible glimpse at its first SUV -- at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Bentley EXP 9 F is powered by the W12 6.0-liter engine delivering up to 600 hp of output and up to 800 Nm of torque. However, the British carmaker considers using its 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 or a hybrid drivetrain.

The new Bentley EXP 9 F Concept was inspired by the famous Blower Bentleys. This has the daytime running lamp apertures also acting as the charge cooler air intakes for the twin-turbo W12 engine. Each daytime running lamp comes with a mesh-covered turbine fan design as well as ‘rifled’ inner surface finish. The same turbine theme is found on the 23-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, the rear lights of the EXP 9 F Concept take inspiration from the forms and details of fighter jet engines.
