Renault preparing an RS version of the Dacia Sandero

And the car everyone was waiting for it is about to happen! According to Autocar, who spoke with Renaultsport boss Mr. Patrice Ratti, the French carmaker will indeed build a high-performance RS version of the Dacia Sandero. Although it will be available only in Russia and Brazil, the vehicle will go on sale next year.

Ratti confirmed the fact that the Dacia Sandero RS project is well underway but didn’t give any details regarding the engine found under the hood.

Taking in consideration that the most powerful version of the Sandero is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, there are big chances to see the same powerplant on theupcoming vehicle.

We don’t expect the engine to deliver too much power as Ratti said that the Sandero is actually lighter than a Clio and as a result, they don’t need too much horsepower.

In addition, Ratti also confirmed that Renault will offer an RS version of the Twingo, as well as performance crossover likely based on the Captur.

Dacia Sandero is a modern compact hatchback that boasts of a pleasant appearance expressing vitality and versatility. The new model continues to bring customers unrivalled equipment for money. In classic Dacia style, it offers impressive cabin space and load volume.

Despite its compact design and price, the new Dacia Sandero offers a boot capacity of 320 dm3 VDA. When the 60/40 split-folding rear bench is folded down, the boot capacity increases dramatically near four-fold to 1,200 dm3 VDA.

The new Sandero, new Sandero Stepway, and the new Logan are proof that Dacia’s styling is becoming more upscale and more assertive. Overall, Dacia's new design identity highlights both strength and quality, with these three new models sharing the same front end as accentuated by the Dacia logo located on the grille. This grille and the large headlights are designed in a way that the new Dacia and its siblings would bear a more expressive face.

When viewed from the sides, the new Dacia Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan impress a new level of robustness, as seen through its proportions, glazed surfaces, a sculpted waist line as well as more emphatic wheel arches and flanks.

Dacia has given the new Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan either a new dark carbon or a two-tone dashboard -- according to model and version. This dashboard features modern-styled instrumentation, with the latest-generation’s functional controls and chrome-surrounded dials.
