Rolls-Royce builds one-off Ruby Limited Edition Phantom Coupe for UAE

Article by Christian A., on August 22, 2013

Rolls-Royce revealed the one-off Ruby Limited Edition Phantom Coupe created by the British manufacturer for its biggest market, Abu Dhabi. Set to hit the showroom of Abu Dhabi Motors soon, the new vehicle is inspired by the beauty if rubies and the well-known gemstone is prominently throughout the vehicle design.

Conceptualized by Kadhim Al Helli a.k.a. Rolls-Royce Brand Manager at Abu Dhabi Motors, the one-off Ruby Limited Edition Phantom Coupe was hand-crafted by specialists at the home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England. As you can see from the photos, the one-off Phantom Coupe features a Merlot Rica exterior and a two-tone interior with Seashell (white) and Mugello Red.

Moreover, we find Marine White wood, Seashell star lights, Consort Red carpets and foot mats. In addition, Ruby Marquetry inlays are found on the fascia, front and rear headrests and a personalized clock with a cut ruby stone inlay.

The Ruby Limited Edition Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe also features an embroidered glove box with “Ruby Motif – One of One” description. According to Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, this Rolls-Royce can be owned by one person in the whole world, but unfortunately we don’t know who it is, yet!

According to Ian Cameron, Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, the Phantom design should be thought of as a piece of classical music, which will be interpreted differently over time without losing its essential melody.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom continues to delight its audience just like an inspirational musical piece. An orchestra of craftsmen who work at the Home of Rolls-Royce brings to life familiar melodies, or classic design cues that one can trace through the model generations.

Familiar themes start with the popular Spirit of Ecstasy, which proudly adorns each model's Pantheon grille as it leans into the wind with flowing, fluttering gown. Meanwhile, in side profile, all Rolls-Royce Phantom family members boast a classic 2-to-1 wheel-to-body height and a long rear over-hang.

Moreover, the new Phantom’s thin-rimmed steering-wheel will remind you of the Phantom II’s and Phantom III’s elegantly engineered multifunction helms. Other cues, including organ-stop plungers and bulls-eye air vents, further hint at past Phantom masterpieces.

Also delighting car owners are 21st-century design cues. The interlocked double-R monogram for Rolls-Royce in the hubcaps always remains upright. Additionally, coach doors that feature soft close function house Teflon-coated umbrellas in order to provide a grand disembarkation from any car, regardless of the weather.
