Rumor: Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport in the works

Article by Christian A., on April 23, 2014

According to the latest reports from Autocar, it appears that Mercedes-Benz is currently working on a sporty version of the 2015 C-Class called C450 AMG Sport. Set to make its debut on the market in 2015, the new Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport will be slotted between the C400 and the upcoming C63 AMG. Under the hood, the C450 AMG Sport will carry the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine that will generate around 367 hp.

The engine will deliver the power to the rear wheels, but as an option Mercedes-Benz will offer the 4Matic four-wheel-drive system. Moreover, we expect the new car to receive an AMG body kit.

Currently, the most powerful C-Class is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C400, which carries the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine rated at 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, mated of course to the seven-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG will get a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that will replace the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine. Same engine will be used by the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT.

So, if you don’t want the C63 AMG but you need a more powerful C-Class, the new C450 AMG Sport can be the best solution. But you will have to wait a little but in order to buy it!
