Saab expands auto parts service to North America

Article by Anita Panait, on June 8, 2012

Although Saab is not producing vehicles anymore, it continues to serve its 1.5 million customers worldwide. In fact, Saab Automobile Parts AB, the company's parts and service arm, expanded further by opening a subsidiary in North America to serve around 500,000 Saab owners in United States and Canada.

Saab Automobile Parts North America is now one of many independent companies created in the United Kingdom and Sweden that serve around 70 percent of Saab owners around the world. Saab Automobile Parts also provides technical support to about 1,200 workshops worldwide.

Lennart Stahl, chief executive of Saab Automobile Parts, told Automotive News Europe, that their mission is to “take care of all Saab owners."

Stahl said that Saab continues to serve customers in countries like Italy and Spain through its national sales companies, while it provides services to Saab owners in Belgium through an independent importer.

Saab Automobile Parts is now running Saab’s Trollhaetten plant through an agreement that allows it to use the press and body shop to produce replacement big parts like hoods, doors and fenders at the plant.

Stahl remains optimistic that Saab will recover from its current situation and expressed confidence that interested investors will acquire the company.
