Chrysler LLC starts a new segment in South America with the unveiling of the fresh Dodge Trazo C1.8 today at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. The Trazo C1.8 will be available in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay as a four-door sedan with excellent value and fuel economy. Trazo C1.8 will be manufactured by Nissan Motor Co., giving Chrysler LLC a first-rate entry into these successful markets.

The external appearance of the C1.8 offers a sporty, yet contemporary design that is consistent with the fast growing Dodge brand. Trazo C1.8's width-optimized 102.4-inch (260-centimeter) wheelbase and short front- and rear-overhangs provide ideal proportions for city streets, at the same time dramatically long rooflines highlight the comfy and roomy interior.

The grille of Trazo C1.8 highlights a complex louver design that provide a contemporary appearance and at the same time integrating the new Trazo logo. Large halogen headlamps wrap around to front fenders and provide an arresting appearance while improving lighting capabilities. These features, incorporated with an athletic, integrated body-color front fascia, strengthens the Trazo C1.8's fresh appearance.

The side profile of Trazo displays aerodynamic effectiveness while featuring liberal passenger space inside. A lowered windshield angle improves Trazo C1.8's drag coefficient to a low 0.31 Cd while providing a higher roof elevation for passengers. Clean and crisp body-side forms provide a classy look and give equilibrium to the large side glass that gives Trazo C1.8 passengers enormous visibility. A custom-made rear end completes the external design and at the same time suggesting Trazo C1.8's cargo flexibility.

A proficiently shaped deck lid is hemmed in by large jeweled tail lamps and offers a tough, integrated appearance with the broad C-pillar. The deck lid also mounts nicely below the large rear window to avoid blocking the driver's rear view. A huge chromed license plate brow and centered Trazo line logo on top of the deck lid guarantees the Trazo C1.8 is not a feeble, run-of-the-mill four-door. Space usage and first-rate interior materials offer Trazo C1.8 with a liberally sized interior, providing its passengers with great comfort and craftsmanship. Using its lengthier wheelbase, an interior length of more than two meters front to back makes Trazo C1.8 spacious and provides the space essential for a dynamic lifestyle. A standing seat height position in the front and rear seat permits a lot of leg room. Front-row seating is larger and more comfortable than most C-segment vehicles and provides comfortable leg space at any angle with minimal concession to rear-seat passengers.

A 60/40 split fold-down rear seat houses bigger items, while variable head rests and a folding arm rest add more ease for up to five passengers on longer journeys. The panel for the instruments of Trazo C1.8 imitates the exterior‚ gracefully simple design with a horizontal layout and very efficient use of space. The instruments are housed in three chromed ringed pods, snuggled in clear view through the athletic three-spoke steering wheel. The center stack contains accessible climate regulators and audio system in addition to a covered storage section. A center console, with more storage features and an ergonomically designed shifter location, flows smoothly from the instrument panel and delineates driver and front-passenger seating spaces.

Metallic highlights on the instrument panel, door panels, steering wheel and other touch points rounds off Trazo C1.8's contemporary appearance. The Dodge Trazo C1.8 will be offered with a 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder gasoline and E100 ethanol-ready engine with both automatic and manual transmissions. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) powertrain provides fuel economy features together with driving excitement the Dodge brand is popularly known for. Excellence is a main concern for the DodgeTrazo C1.8. A three-year, 50,000-kilometer limited warranty is standard on Trazo C1.8, giving owners strong assurance.

"The new Trazo C1.8 by Dodge allows us to enter into a segment in which we currently do not compete. The Trazo C1.8 offers customers a high-quality vehicle with great value and provides our dealers with further opportunities to expand their business," said Mike Manley, Executive Vice President International Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Chrysler LLC.
